I seem to have written a theme song for a 70s/80s cheesy sci-fi action show

So the description leans into it

haha now I really want to shoot a credits sequence for it

Comments: Well, for starters, it's too long to be a theme for any show unless you really strip it down to its main part and turn it into a 30 to 60 second piece. By today's standards (who does themes anymore) even that's too long. Additionally, for 70s, the arrangement is way too sparse. The lead is too loud and the background is too soft. And 70s was more acoustic than electronic. 80s, this would be marginal at best. Again, not enough going on in the piece. The mix is pretty imbalanced, IMO. The FX are fine, volume wise, but that pad really needs to come up as do the drums. Musically, not enough variation to justify a track of this length. It starts to sound too long around 2 minutes in. I'm curious, did you grow up in the 70s and 80s? If you did, you'd probably know that this doesn't quite match up with pieces of the era. All in all, it isn't terrible standing on its own as a piece of music. But the mix needs some work.

I'd agree with Wags - not bad, but needs to be bigger, cheesier, and with more urgency!

Yep I agree its too long. went back and chopped a few sections. Its STILL to long for an actual credit sequence...I get that...I wasn't saying..or wasn't trying to say it was an ACTUAL theme... just that is what is sounded like. A theme for an ultra cheesy low budget Sci Fi action show from the lates 70s early 80s. And yes I did in fact grow up in those decades

Matching up exactly was never, and will most likely never be my aim.

do to space limitations(no pun intended) I had to take down the old one. Here is the new one and I will edit my post accordingly.

Yes its still minimal, adding parts just muddies the waters. Removed several sections, brought the drums and pad up.

And actually I did think Space 1999. hahaha
