MFlanger - how to use it as a resonator alike plugin?

Hey people,

at the moment I am building a very great pad in MSF, which can sound quite creepy. I got some ideas from an old Reaktor ensemble called "Icepad". Now there are two flanger modules, which sound like a resonator and I really tried my best to recreate such sound in MFlanger, but I coul not do it. Then I tried to nearly copy the reaktor module-setup into a MXXX matrix, but it was not possible as well.

Now I tried the old Fruity Flanger and could recreate the sound really quick. Am I too stupid to use MFlanger or does MFlanger really not sound like any other traditional flanger? :( ... to me it sounds like MFlanger really does weird stuff with the stereo or so ... Edit: OH! And I mainly miss some kind of proper "depth" control. In Fruity Flanger it is set by ms ... in MFlanger it just seems a mixer between dry and wet. I might not understand a thing here maybe?

Here are some audio demos:

https://www.tagirijus.de/clients/tmp/01_flanger_dry.mp3

https://www.tagirijus.de/clients/tmp/02 ... fruity.mp3

https://www.tagirijus.de/clients/tmp/03 ... _melda.mp3

Any help is appreciated, thank you all! :)

By the way, this is the MFlanger preset:

Just from listening to the audio examples here, you need to lower the maximum frequency parameter.
Melda Production & United Plugins
Surface Studio = i7, 32gb, SSD.
Windows 11. Bitwig, Reaper, Live. MTotal.
Audiofuse, Adam Audio monitors + sub, iLoud MTM.
Polybrute, Summit, Pro 3, Tempest, Syntakt, AH2.
Ableton Push 2, Roli Seaboard Block.

Hey jmg8 - yeah this sounds like this. Thanks for the hint. I just tried it and found out that the frequency parameters just seem to behave like a bandpass filter. Not the same result in the end. :(

Experiment with the "RANGE" set in milliseconds, and adjust "Delay" as well if needed. Also there's a "PHASE DIFFERENCE" parameter in MFlanger to mess or not mess with stereo phase of the flanger, as with most parameters you can rightclick it to set it to default (which is zero for this parameter).

Tried substuting MComb, for comparison?
my other modular synth is a bugbrand

I am familiar with all these settings. The problem is that I cannot achieve in any way the sound like with other flangers I have. I fear that MFlanger might be a tiny bit limited here, since I am not able to adjust ms-delay, which is controlled by the LFO, properly. I can set Range, yes - but I can neither set the starting delay-ms-point nor end point. Means: maybe I want the delay line to be controlled by the LFO to go from 1 ms to 10 ms ... in another situation I want to circle from 7 ms to 20 ms. Another thing is that the phase difference heavily generates a stereo effect, while the Fruity Flanger seems to nearly stay mono (while this can be some mono sum at the end in the line, right? I mean... phase difference has to be a stereo effect, right? :D). And last but not least: the min / max frequency seem only to be a bandpass filter applied to the delay line.

Maybe I am not understanding the principle of a flanager 100%, but mainly it is mixing the same signal with a modulated delay time - correct?

Yes I did, unfortunately I could not get the sound out of it which I'd need - e.g. phase difference is missing here.

I tried to recreate some flanger alike effect in MXXX, which shows how I would imagine a bit more control in some aspects. I did not manage to add the phase difference yet:

I tried to work on some phase difference settings and either found a bug or I do not get the routing:

In this setting, why is there no sound when the second feedback (also on channel 1) is soloed? There should be a signal, right?
