MFreeFormPhase Question/ Request

In using MFFP to push a duplicate .wav file 90 degrees out of phase with the original I found myself wondering if there was a more accurate way to shift the entire spectrum to my target phase setting. Is there a simple way that I am unaware of to draw a straight line? Could there be a phase shift knob to place the spectrum and adjust (draw) from there? Am I using the wrong plugin to shift the phase of an entire clip? Some days I get lost in the list of Melda plugins and forget what some of them are capable of and grab the wrong one for my trials.
Halp!

I'm not aware of another way, outside of doing the quadratic module in mxxx, which I think does 90 degree phase shift.
With Freeform phase you could set up a multi parameter that just moves two points at the extreme edges up and down, giving a static X phase shift across the spectrum. Very easy to set up.

Thanks vector. I've said this before, I really, really need to sit down with the multis and modulators and figure out how to keep them in my thoughts.
Ooops...MFFP doesn't have multis...its free and not in MXXX either.

I can get to 90.06 ! (I could not see a way to enter a precise value for a specific point, but you never know.)
Drag through this preset code to select it all, copy it, select a spare A...H button in the plug-in and paste it (the button above the "redo" button).
I right-clicked in the graph area and deselected "drawing mode", then dragged the segment upwards.

While you're deselecting drawing mode, you can also select "Snap to grid Y".DarkStar wrote:I can get to 90.06 ! (I could not see a way to enter a precise value for a specific point, but you never know.)

Then zoom in (click the + under the vertical scroll bar 4 times).
Then when you drag the segment up it'll snap to exactly 90 degrees.

Good point! Also another way is to use the MConvolutionMB and use the Filter tab and select Hilbert . That's technically THE way to get 90 degrees phase shift. I rather won't ask why you need it though

I was experimenting with different ways to create a Shepard Tone effect. Without too much boring details the 3 methods that I ran across involve adjusting frequency, time or phase. Never thought to look in Convolution for it! (expected to find phase in Utility)

Got it . And don't worry, MConvolutionMB isn't a logical suspect indeed, the Hilbert generator is there simply because at one point I needed it myself .

I've been trying to create Shepard effects.
Eg
In MFlangerMB thought It might be possible with 2 or 3 bands in Level mode, each band has different phase starting points for the flanger LFOs and and a master modulator LFO controlling crossover level between the bands.
So as one band is descending (or rising) another band that is out of phase slowly gets cross mixed.
I seem to remember reading this is one way of doing it.
I but didn't get close, only tried for about half an hour.
I feel like I'm barking up the right tree, or am I ??

I'm no expert in this and I'm not exactly sure, why are you using flanger, from what I checked about shepard tones it seems more like a job for MOscillator, but what you are explaining seems it could work in a way, but it's hard to say really.

Check this out. I made it a while ago.
It should give you some ideas, if you open up the MODs and MPs to see how I did it.

Oli Larkin released a pack of effects that do the Shepard effect.MeldaProduction wrote: ↑Sat Nov 17, 2018 11:19 am I'm no expert in this and I'm not exactly sure, why are you using flanger, from what I checked about shepard tones it seems more like a job for MOscillator, but what you are explaining seems it could work in a way, but it's hard to say really.
I could have chosen any of the effects.
It's so you get the aural effect of a continuously rising or falling effect.
One it's perfected in one of the melda plugins it can be transposed to several of the others

Was this just as an example as to how to handle the filters in MCombMB or should it sound in the realm of the Sheperd effect?
I appreicate your help
