BFD2 issue; no intersample Volume change?

I'm having a strange issue with BFD2 lately, which I don't recall seeing before..

The thing is I cannot hear the Volume changes between one Velocity sample and the next.

So, for instance in Cymbal Zildjian22Flatride(22"):
the notes from 23 to 26 velocity, trigger a determinate sample.
the notes from 27 to 29 trigger a different sample.

Naturally the higher velocity sample is louder, but that's not the point.

The point is, I hear no volume difference between velocity 23 and 26;
I hear no difference between velocity 27 to 29, and so on..

Or IOW: there's no intersample Volume change.

-And.. it's driving me nuts!
I've naturally reinstalled a few times, tried different update versions, and Reaper versions, nothing.

I double checked to have Humanization 0%, No Antimachinegun, Max Detail..
16/24 bit mode, or 64/127/256 velocity layers seem to have no effect.

And ofc the "Velocity to Amp" in all pieces is set to the default 50%,
"Vel Random" having no effect on it either.

-So what could the problem be?
Shouldn't the Volume of the triggered samples increase Gradually with the Velocity, even if the sample is the same?

Could the little Options menu that appears on the "first run", have anything to do with it?
(yes, that menu which lets you select basic config like the type of edrum, or what DAW you'll be using)

What is the best option for Reaper users on that menu?
(I choosen "Other" instad of say Cubase or Standalone mode)

How to trigger it again?
..

Or am I just going nuts, and I haven't realized in 5 years that this is indeed the way BFD2 is supposed to work?
(possibru!)

Can anybody confirm, or check this for me with Reaper and BFD2?
(BFD2 3.1.6 64bit, or otherwise..)

Thank you in advance!
