but this doesn't cover pre-release builds

Pre-release builds are the newest updated version with bugfixes, still needs further user testing before it goes live. Maizesoft owner is who is doing the builds and fixes.

Ah ok! Got it. I downloaded Maize this morning. Will i not be able to release my plugin as a VST? Is something wrong with the software or the acquiring a license?

There are restrictions listed on the website for demo version exports of vst instruments.

If you have a license everything is in working order.
