newest beta won't correctly install/run on my Windows 7 x64 Gateway laptop.

My development machine is running under Win7 x64.

Possibly the download got corrupted.
Try downloading again.

Let me know if you continue to have problems.

i uninstalled and then re-downloaded & reinstalled. same problem. do i need to have the last non-beta installed on my laptop to make the beta work?

You don't need to have a previous version of MenuMagic installed to install or run the latest version.

Sorry that you're still having problems.
I know it doesn't help but I haven't had any reports of anyone else having problems with the new build.

I'm happy to help you but I need a bit more information on what is happening.
I gather by your question that you can install the program, but you have a problem when you try to run it?

Did you install the new version

In a new folder?
Over the 1.x version?

Neither of these should be an issue but knowing how you installed it might be helpful.

What is happening?
Are you getting error messages? If so what?

Also - please check the folder where you installed MenuMagic.
If you see any of error log files - error.log or an *.elf file (the name will be something like MenuMagic_PCNAME.elf) please email them to me. They might help pinpoint what's causing the problem.

i am installing into a new folder (but i have also tried installing into the same folder where the previous version of the beta was). when i try to run the application, it starts to act like it wants to run, but then disappears completely. there are no error messages. it just vanishes. this is very weird, of course, because the program works perfectly on my Gateway desktop w/ Windows 7 x64

Also - please check the folder where you installed MenuMagic.
If you see any of error log files - error.log or an *.elf file (the name will be something like MenuMagic_PCNAME.elf) please email them to me. They might help pinpoint what's causing the problem.

And there are no error logs on the problem machine?

Does the Splash screen indicate that loading has finished?
If not

What is the status shown on the Splash screen before MenuMagic disappears?
What is the % shown on the upper bar?
What area does the Splash is processing when it disappears?

If the Splash screen does indicate that the program has finished loading - is the program icon still on the taskbar after MenuMagic has disappeared?

splash screen appears, i push the button to run MenuMagic, and right after the program starts to "work" everything disappears from the screen. no error message. the same happens with the brand new beta.

Just for clarity - I need to make sure that I am not missing something...

You mentioned you had the previous beta installed - it was working fine?
In the installation folder do you see any error log files?
A file named error.log and/or a file whose name starts with MenuMagic_ and ends with the file extension .elf?
If you were able to get past the registration screen you will definitely have at least one of these and probably both.
What folder do you have MenuMagic installed in?

yes a previous beta was working fine. the only log file is the installation log.
