Connecting a lavalier mic to an audio interface

I have a UMC404HD interface and I want to connect a lavalier mic (or any similar mic with a 3.5mm connector) to the line input (the one that goes inside the XLR connector). I got the mono 6.3mm to mono 3.5mm adapter but I can't seem to get any signal from the mic. I tried different mics with no success. The only signal I can get is from a XLR condenser mic.
I replaced the 3.5mm connector of the lavalier mic and made sure the signal wire is connected to the tip and the ground wire to the sleeve. But I still get no signal. Is there something I'm missing?

If your lavalier's jackplug is 3.5mm it may be expecting to be plugged into a 'Plug in Power' (PiP) socket. A 1/4" line socket does not provide that power.bogdanc2011 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2019 3:56 pm I have a UMC404HD interface and I want to connect a lavalier mic (or any similar mic with a 3.5mm connector) to the line input (the one that goes inside the XLR connector).
(See the section on PiP here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phantom_power)
There are specialist adaptors that let these work with the 48v Phantom power on an XLR.

The lavalier mic had a 3.5mm, 4 pole jack. It worked when plugged into a phone, so it's a standard dynamic microphone. The headphone microphone is most likely the same.whyterabbyt wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2019 4:07 pmIf your lavalier's jackplug is 3.5mm it may be expecting to be plugged into a 'Plug in Power' (PiP) socket. The lavalier mic is an electret mic and needs 3-5v power to work.
Phones and pc soundcards have this power support inbuilt. Pro audio interfaces do not. They have instead the 48v phantom power. This is to much for the lavalier and would damage it.
You need something like this to amplify it for a line in:
