Really, more interesting looking hardware synths now than ever. So many, wonder how the market is big enough, where the hell are enough people in the world to buy all these great synths?

Got a reply from Waldorf support on Kyra - if to get audible previw/compare of patches that are about to be overwritten.
- No, we are not planning to implement this in future either.

Clearly they targeting others than DeepMind, Nordlead and DSI/Sequential products(at least looking at REV2, and it has compare feature). Korg CX-3 organ had it, but not KingKorg, so one never knows.

So doing patches with Kyra you have to go through everything there is, and manually take notes those that does not feel like anything you would use for further development.

So a REV2 module is back on top of list as my next synth.

Can any of the sounddesigners confirm that the max lfo speed is 12 Hz

Seems so.

From manual
"LFO Rate can be varied from 0.1 Hz to 12.8 Hz in 0.1 Hz steps. Kyra’s LFOs can be accurately synchronised to MIDI clock."

Havent looked if there is fm modulation that makes up for this in other ways if you want audio range modulation. There are 6 modulation channels each voice in the matrix.

Everything that made waldorf gear great is absent in this release
-audio rate fo's
-filter fm
-math operators in the mod matrix
-multiple filters in parallel /serial connection

Not critizing the sound quality ( haven't heard it inperson ) , but t me this looks like might underwhelming .
I was interesetd , not so anymore

Rant off :tu:

Nevermind, need to read correctly. :)

That's a real shame as those are features that would benefit from the extra horsepower/oversampling available on a newer generation of hardware.

It's everywhere to read wavetables here and there. The Kyra can not play wavetables and fading from one waveform to another does not. Own waveforms are not supported and the waveform pool comes from the AKWF waveforms. My opinion about it. Far too expensive for what he can. The ElectraX by Tone2 can do a lot more and only costs a small part of what the Kyra costs.

Yeah, that is disappointing...a decade ago, I would've expected that by 2019, Virus TI-style integration would be matured further and be rock-solid and in use by a few different hardware synth makers. When a synth insists on taking over as your audio interface to stream over USB, for me that just kind of makes the USB streaming feature almost useless.

Well ... mine has just arrived on my desk ... collected it from Andertons today.
First impressions ... looks good, heavy, build quality seems excellent ... rotaries seem solid and precise, buttons very positive.
Plug in stereo outleads and MIDI in ... and play some notes on the Linnstrument.
Wow!
Flick through the first bank of presets...
Lot and LOTS of sound ... great banks of strings, complex percusive metallics ... so many things I try have all sorts of stuff going on ... and they sound useful and useable ... not gimmicky fun that you'll never actually use.
Not explored even the surface yet, but words like rich, complex and exciting are obvious ones ... it has comparable looks, feel and apparent potential to my 002R ... a fabulous instrument ...
I'm going to play more!
