Any cheap but decent (analog) effect pedal suggestions?

Appreciate the new suggestions, thank you so much. I am giving a look at brands like JOYO, TC Electronic, Boss, etc. Mostly they are higher than my budget, but if I really like something I would wait for some time and then back that instead of just getting one for the sake of it.

I got lucky at a dedicated musicians' flea market and got a cheap Boss pedal.

I knew what I wanted because of this amazing "how do we get that distorted acid sound" comparison page, maybe that's some help for you too:

Thanks for the tip. Great comparisons at the link above. I was checking out some types of pedals yesterday and I was wondering how would a Tremolo or Vibrato one be. I want to narrow down to one or two between: some kind of analog delays, tremolos, vibratos and distortion, for my first pedal.

I am liking some TC Electronic and Boss pedals, but most of them are expensive for me right now. Will try to get them for second-hand if possible, but I usually don't like second hand stuff (except for software ;)).

Well if you are feeding pedals with softsynths output (or hard synth output if the hardsynth is at all capable), then tremolo pedal is same as vca lfo modulation in the synth, and vibrato pedal is same as audio oscillator lfo mod in the synth. IOW most synths have tremolo and vibrato already built in.

But there might be some random grunge factor or whatever in a pedal that makes it sound different to the synth's innate capabilities. Hard to predict.

the main issue i have with this personally (not with the statement, that is of course correct) is the fixed chain, ie your always delaying your trem.

sometimes i want the rhythmic trem on the feedback tail :)

some synths will have options to do this, but it's just one example of why i like to have the option.
of course, it can be done in software, but some folk like to get their hands on a few knobs now and then.

THIS.
not only they are supercheap and with a built quality beyond reproach, but they actually tweaked a few so they sound a tad better. I've got a dozen of them and really enjoy them. The echobrain is a brilliant take on the original boss analogue echo pedal and some of their overdrives are badass. The cinders especially.
It's not what you use, it's how you use it...

Brief mention for the Elektron Analog Drive pedal, which just went on sale at JRR Shop (and I think others) for $99, regularly $229. This single pedal has 8 different analog dirt circuits in it, along with MIDI control and saving of presets. I know it is more than the OP wanted to spend, but you are basically getting 8 different pedals for the price of one.

Thanks again guys. :tu:

Yeah, saw it from the newsletter. It is indeed a good mention. Unfortunately, JRR Shop does not ship to my country. And in my country it is just way too expensive. :(

I think I will be looking at the cheap, decent ones from TC Electronic and Boss. Have some unexpected expenses lined up, so might have to postpone this purchase.

It is a simple amp emulator but I imagine it would play very nice with synths.

$30.00
Thanks! Looks good, but on quick web search its availability and/or price looks like a concern in my country. :(
EDIT: The company does have some good variety of models. :tu:

Any other suggestions? I am seeing Behringer models a lot (FX-600 looks cool) and they are cheap. Perhaps any recommendation from this brand? Boss and all seem expensive.
Are you in Brazil too?

No, I am in India. Do you find such things expensive in Brazil too?

If it is $10.00 USD it will be 100.00 here
1 hr wage vs 1 day wage

Example.... new Squire Strat... over R$ 2000.00

Would like to flag the Zoom MS 70 CD-R. Not analogue I know and it’s $100ish but very popular with hardware synth heads. Very versatile multi effect which will run on AA batteries or USB and is stereo in and out which is not that common in pedals.

I am also looking at the newer Zoom G1 Four which is mono but does run on USB and looks like it might be easy to tweak as a desktop unit.

Chinese mini pedals can be quite good. I really really really like this pedal, it's a Proco Rat clone.

I just picked one up in a second-hand shop ... it cost me £100 :o

I understand. It's even more ridiculous here. Buying hardware gear is an expensive affair.
