what have you got, what are you saving for, or what do you want to get rid of even? Also if you feel like it, do name a synth you think is super mega over rated and/or outrageously bad VFM.

Me at present:

Virtual Analog:
-Nord A1R
-Virus Desktop TI2
-Microkorg XL+
-Novation Mininova (morodernover edition)
-Yamaha AN1X

Real Analog (I consider both DCO and VCO to be real analog, in fact i prefer the tuning stability of DCO):
-DSI Tetra x 2 polychained for 8 voices
-Waldorf Pulse 2
-Roland JDXI (has one monophonic real analog voice you can combine with the 64 voice digital synth poly and the 64 voice drum synth, so this also goes in the multi and rompler sections)

Rompler/Workstation or Multi/Misc:
-Integra 7
-Emu Proteus 2000 with all expansion slots full (Rob Papen Techno board, Composer Collection Board, Planet Phatt Board, Xtreme Lead Board)
-Yamaha MU100R (ancient but wanted the VL1 voice, of course i found out AFTER paying that it doesn't have a breath input...my bad!)
-Korg Wavestation SR (just had to)
-Korg 05R/W (i should have gotten the X5DR for like 50 bucks more with double the rom size and patch bank, my bad.. Truthfully I only wanted it for the sax heaven patch anyway which will allow me to completely rebuild one of my favourite original compositions from 1996 - i have NEVER found a replacement for this patch in all the vst i used over the years).

Midi Controllers:
-Axiom 25
-Yamaha KX61
-Roland A49 (cheapest way to get auto mapping supernatural mode for integra and JD, the 88 was just too expensive at the time)
-Korg Nanokey II
-Motu Midi Express 5x5 for midi i/o, thought it would be enough midi i.o at the time.. um... wrong! Yes most synths have USB but older stuff doesn't.

YES I know, i also need just one keyboard that's bigger with better weighting. In retrospect i really screwed up not budgeting for the roland 88 key, that would have been fantastic. Oh well, the time will come, maybe the kurzweil workstation will be it.. we'll see!

Hardware FX:
-None at all

Interface:
-Apollo 8 Quad TB
-Focusrite Octopre MKii adat expander
-Apollo Duo Twin TB
-Yamaha MGP24x Mixer ( I had a 32 channel but returned it and got the 24 as it took up too much room, and used credit difference for a samson line rack)
-Samson SM10

Monitors:
-Adam a5X
-Adam Sub7
-IK iloud for small speaker comparison mixing as well as use with laptop

Strongly Desired and will eventually get there (ETA 5+ years for all):
-Korg Z1
-Roland V Synth XT (the one with the D50 soundset included)
-Emu Virtuoso also with 4 memory slots full with EMU sounds i don't have
-Good all round hardware FX unit
-one b&b comp and one boutique comp
-One hardware boutique EQ (like the comps, not quite sure which, unlikely to ever have that sort of cash in one go at any time anyway).
-Kurzweil PC3K7 (76 key version)
-Nord Modular G2 (or G2X)
-2 or 3 more ipads (one mini one pro, wifi only, cheapest smallest GB versions), each dedicated to specific editor/controller task.
- AKAI Miniak

Absolute must haves and WILL find a way to get them before anything else on the list above, even if it means intense personal suffering for a while, i.e. these are priority items (ETA 2 years of intense saving):
-Korg Electribe2
-Elektron Analog Rytm
-Yamaha FS1R ( O M G the sound.. the sound!)
-Yamaha EX5R with breath controller (Best pads *ever*).
-Yamaha Motif MoxF8 for my main workstation - a motif XF 76 key would be ideal but that's 4 grand so forget it. (I *love* the motif rompler sounds. Best arp ever.)
-UA Apollo 16 which will be final interface expansion.
-Steinberg CC121 (using ipad Steinberg controller app in meantime)
-Arturia Spark LE controller
-Arturia beatstep
-Motu 128 Express to expand midi i/o

I guess you guys realised I'm a bit of a yamaha fan?
I only buy second hand that is in mint condition and that has been serviced/cleaned with battery replaced (i like it to arrive ready to switch on in perfect health with no work from me hehe).

Stuff that i will never own due to crazy individual prices but would just *love* to. All these are well over AUD 5 thousand dollars EACH:
-Kronos, the holy grail workstation
-Yamaha Vl1 (only 10 were ever made, 16 polyphonic physical modelling)
-Alesis Andromeda A6
-Yamaha Montage (is over 6K here!)
-John Bowen Solaris

Maybes, on the fence:
-Yamaha VL70M with patchman upgrade.. sounds SO authentic!
-Alesis Nanosynth 2 for permanent use in BR with laptop when in bed (so tiny, sounds great!)

Most overrated hardware synth of all time, i prefer even some software synths:
-Jomox Sunsyn, i Really dislike the sound. Yet they sell for $10,000 USD plus for 8 voices.

Would be great to see what other KVRers have collected over the years. What gems and so on.

:)
Be fun to participate, this topic is a friendly topic only! Cheers

are you using software too?

I'd love to know if there's anyone else here that has completely stopped using software synths also. I don't even have most of them installed anymore. SO much to get around to selling but the task daunts me lol.

I do.

Recently I've unconsciously moved toward two distinct workflows.

A) Acid Techno: hardware only until the final mixdown stage
B) Psytrance: software apart from a very occasional Virus/Nord/303 lead

After 12 hours behind a computer each day a hardware only simple acid session is most welcome.

The headfk of Psytrance only happens at the weekend.

EDIT: You make EDM if I'm not mistaken. You're not gonna get those levels of loudness without software man.

My gear list is pretty short but Im out of space.

Analog: Roland RS-09, Jx3p, Jx8p
Modelled: Roland TR-8, JP-08
Midi:StudioLogic VMK-161 fully weighted
Samplers:Roland S-550, Emu SP-1200
Interface: Apollo 8
Mixer: Mackie Pro8fxv2

What do I want:
I would like to swap the S-550 for an S-950 or S-1000, or maybe even an S-5/6000.
Seeing as how I feel there is an SP-1200 bubble on ebay right now(Prices are cresting the 5 grand mark) I am tempted to sell it and fund some more gear.
a PG-800 for the Jx8p
maybe an ASR10 rack.
Some better mics
new drum heads for my kit, and new hardware(kick pedal, hi hat stand)
a nice playing short scale bass.

Got a lot of software synths (als due to NFRs for testing etc.) and use software very often but still got this hardware:

Virtual Analog:
- Waldorf Blofeld desktop (+ SL/Sample expansion)
- Novation UltraNova
- Waldorf Streichfett String synth (fully DSP based)

Real Analog:
- Waldorf Pulse 2
- Novation Bass Station 2

Hybrid (digital Oscs with real analog filters):
- Korg DW-8000 (8 Korg NJM2069 VCF/VCA chips)
- Ensoniq ESQ-1 (8 CEM3379 VCF/VCA chips) ; OS 3.53 ; with 320 patches ROM cartridge

Rompler/Workstation or Multi/Misc:
- Yamaha Motif ES 7 (with 512 MB volatile Sample RAM)
- Korg Wavestation EX (with RAM card for another user bank)

Midi Controllers:
- Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol S61 controller keyboard (61 keys semi-weighted Fatar keybed with velocity + aftertouch)
- E-Mu X-Midi 1x1 (MIDI to USB interface)
- Korg NanoKontrol (1st version)

Hardware FX:
- None at all

Interface:
- Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 DSP
(- Novation UltraNova has a built-in USB audio interface too)

Mixer:
- Behringer Eurorack UB1002 (small analog mixer) ; got this since 2004 (!)

At the moment i feel that with those and the tons of software i got really enough to play with.
Actually i will maybe even sell 1 or 2 of the hardware synths (not the UltraNova and Waldorf stuff).

I do still use some softsynths and effect plug-ins but I have separate computers. One for recording/sequencing and the other for hosting plugins.
In terms of software, I'm mostly using U-he's Bazille and Zebrify, NI's Guitar Rig and Reaktor, AAS's Chromaphone 2 and Madrona's Aalto but I'll through some Audio Damage effects in there as well.

In regards to stuff I want... more space!
I'm really interested in the Mordor NF-1. I also want a nice dual channel parametric EQ.

I'm mostly focused on building stuff at the moment. Once I finish with my DIY Eurorack projects, I plan to build a Neve channel clone and an SSL bus comp clone.

This is what I have at the moment. I've sold audio interfaces that I outgrew or synths that just sounded "too clean". :) As it stands now, I can record up to 16 simultaneous tracks into Ableton Live, or I can record everything to tape without turning the computer on at all.

Noise Makers:
• Korg MS2000R
• Novation Bass Station Rack
• 3 Rows (9U) of Eurorack modular configured as a chaos-driven wavetable synth with analog filters, distortion, tubes, and transformer outputs
• Korg Eletribe ER-1 (classic version)
• Novation Circuit

Outboard Gear:
• Electrix Filter Factory
• Alesis 3632 compressor
• Lexicon MX300 stereo reverb and FX processor
• Presonus ACP88 8-channel compressor
• DOD 830 Series II graphic equalizer

MIDI
• MOTU MIDI Express XT
• Novation Impulse25
• M-Audio Keystation 61es
• Arturia Beatstep

Audio Flow
• Mackie Onyx 1620i analog mixer with Firewire
• Tascam LM-8ST stereo line mixer
• ART Pro Digital MPA two channel tube preamp
• Marantz PMD 502 studio cassette deck
• Pair of Yamaha HS7 monitors
• AKG 702 open-back headphones
• Audio Technica ATH-M50x closed-back headphones
• Behringer patch bay

Microphones
• Blue Baby Bottle
• Violet Designs Black Finger
• Rode NT1A
• MXL 550/551
• MXL R40/R144 ribbon mics

If money was no object, there would be a Dave Smith OB-6 on this list too.... maybe some day. :phones:
