Single samples or multisamples as well?

Post

Both. Equator uses the SFZ file format.

So it was always possible to use your own samples but with one caveat: you need to make an SFZ file, and so as long as you can write some opcodes in a text editor, then you can use your own samples.

For those who would rather not want to write opcodes, there are various tools on the market which allow to create SFZ files or convert from one formant to SFZ.

See Mildon SFZ to create an SFZ file with your samples:

Or use a converter like the Chicken System Translator to convert from other supported formats.

Then simply put the samples and the SFZ text file (all in the same folder) in the Equator user samples folder. That's it.

SFZ, neat.

There must be a lot of people with Alchemy 1. This used the SFZ format and provided that it's not against the EULA, it would be a good source of SFZ files to try on your own in Equator (if you own both that is).

The German magazine BEAT also got Rich from Synapse Audio to make them a sampler, called Zampler, that also uses SFZ files. It's a free download from the Beat site, although it is a bit tricky to find, and there are plenty of free expansions for it, too, which are mostly decent enough quality.

Can you load them inside Equator? Admittedly, this isn't something I've looked into at all

Absolutely! That's the idea.

Slightly off topic - but do you know if the Alchemy libraries are a standard license? By that I mean you are free to use them within commerical musical works?

I ask because I've done a couple of library albums and may do some more. My publisher asks me to check the licenses because he remembers (and I do to) that there were some paid for libraries in the past that required either special permission, a % payment or something else bizzare.

So far everyone I've checked have come back and said ok - Apple didn't understand the question and were going to get back to me. That was about 18 months ago.

As a result I've not used Alchemy for some time...and reading this I'd probably like to use some of the SFZ & samples within Equator.

Hi everybody:

I just bought a Seaboard Rise 49 with the aim of using Windows 10 and Ableton live. Any initial advice to avoid the typical problems?

I guess we're still without bluetooth MIDI under windows, right?

Thank you for your answers

I never had any problems, it all just worked for me.

Hi Prismprocess,
Thank you so much for sharing info about the widi bud. Based on your findings I purchased one for my win 10 computer which has no Bluetooth.
The widi bud works exactly as you say. everything works fine with my Seaboard block playing Equator. It DOES cause hanging notes when playing more than 3 notes at once.Normally I would call this a deal breaker BUT the Roli is SOOOO expressive I may learn to live with it!

I don't know much about bluetooth devices.
My question is "Is there anything better than the widi bud available for this application?"
I just got it today and could return it if I found a better solution. I did the update but it had no effect on this obstacle.
I like the device and it is very easy to use.
Thanks for your help.

Hi,
There is another method that was posted by SteveElbows that uses MidiBerry which in my opinion has less latency.......

viewtopic.php?f=102&t=445951&start=585

It works very well but you will need the free software from the Microsoft Store.....

https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/p/midib ... 39720h2m05

And you will need a Bluetooth (possibly LE) dongle. I did not try the Widi Bud as a dongle for this method but i'm assuming that will do the trick. (When I tried it I had upgraded my internal Wifi Card to an Intel AC 7260 which works for sure.)

If you follow the instructions in that post it does work 100%.

Hope this helps.

Hi:

Help me please. My first hours with the Seaboard and there is something that I think does not work well.

I play only one key at a time, and with A2 I hear A2 + C2. This is not normal, is it?

With the rest of the keys it does not happen to me and in the A2 it is frequent but not always. Also, it only happens at a specific point of the key

Thanks!!
