How do I create the kind of percussion(?) fills/loops like the one at the start of these tracks:

One thing I've never been able to do is make loops like that sort of thing (i.e. not just using drum/percussion samples as they are). The second one sounds to me like some kind of modulated filter effect, but other than that I have no idea what to do.
Creating fills like these?

If you load the song in your DAW or any audio editor and then remove/silence the kick only so that you can focus on the sounds of these "fills" then it'll become clear what they did
they are percussive sounds mixed with other percussive sounds and reverbed sounds.
play with swing and some volume variance to make it sound humanized and you'll get there.
