I don't know but I think not. There is however some devices in the shop that allow this. I use one called 'midi-cv converter. It works in Reason daw anyway.

Unfortunately not it seems, so the idea of a "synth-rack", controllable from DAW, is highly ampurtated, better than rewire, but not ok for a normal work-flow,... Kombinator will also
suffer from this, and in many cases not making sense,..

Manual is out:

midi-cv converter https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/rack ... converter/
did the trick for me, using ableton live/reason rack. i followed this tutorial:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lmAGQ3FM5w but i made some changes ie , i stuck the extra instruments in their own combinator and unchecked "recieve midi notes"
from there you use the buttons on the midi-cv converter to toggle on/off what synths you want.
you're still stuck using one midi channel per rack but you can split up the audio outs at least.
it's a bit on an insane workaround for a simple problem but eh welcome to reason studios :p

Yeah, this is going to keep me from upgrading. Seems like a glaring oversight on the development side of things. Hoped they would have fixed it from the first beta I played with.

Welcome to the Upgrade Plans Saga too! :D

Yes, one midi channel in and even worse NO MIDI OUT (Boo) but boy is it brilliant to be able to instantiate Racks in my DAW.

The key thing was written above, which is without a Combinator all instruments get all midi, which is annoying. So, I've just been starting everything in a Combiner's by default so that I have control over that.

It is really, really, really nice for me to have my Reason stuff, bought so long ago, in Bitwig. I freaking LOVE The Echo -- I still love it! And Parsec and Antidote are such great synths. And so on -- for $249 I got so much that I know and love AND all the cook electric Panda modular stuff that I'd been missing.

Now about that MIDI out.... (in the meantime I'll be hacking away to get Bitiwig's built in CV tools to work with audio out. More on that when I get it working (crosses fingers.)

OH -- but my question... is there a CV-Audio converter in the RE's? That's what is needed.

Yup! here it is: https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/rack ... -to-audio/

Can the Rack host third party VST's?

Is there a Bidule or Mux or Partcher like modular environment in the Rack.
In other words is there freedom to connect the RE's as one desires?

No, unfortunately not.

To be able to make combinators containing VST plugins inside the Reason Rack VST (like you can in Reason standalone) would be awesome.

Post

Now that Reason can host VSTs and run as a VST, the main question is...

Can Reason load Reason as VST?
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

:D No, Reason standalone only hosts VST2 plugins. Reason Rack VST is VST3.

Yes. You need a multi-format plugin host. For example DDMF Metaplugin https://ddmf.eu/metaplugin-chainer-vst- ... x-wrapper/

Why on earth would you want to do this? And isn’t this essentially what Rewire did? One rack send midi to different instruments? Yet people hated that workflow.
KFish needs to answer a simple question. What is an outdated sound?

You could use my vst3-wrappers(vst3shell.dll,vsti3shell.dll etc.) to run vst3's in vst2 hosts.

https://www.xlutop.com/buzz/zip/beta/pv ... .10b33.zip

Look at the vst folder in the zipfile.

On windows in Ableton the Rack RE knobs seems no to react to automation.
Is this the same on the Mac?
I can record automation in rack instrument knobs — if that's what you mean.
