Yes, when you use per-group MIDI input setting, you will see "+ groups" added to the MIDI channel selected in instrument header.

I think the reasoning for doing this to drum and perc instruments in the factory library is to make sure they always make a sound (because MIDI channel selection vs omni in instrument header is NOT stored along with the patch).

I just loaded up Kontakt 6 Player in SAVIHost, and no matter what channel I set my MIDI controller to send on (or the MIDI channel selector in the instrument), the K6 Player drums always respond to any MIDI channel. I also show the "+ groups" indicator for all drum instruments in the Factory Library.
Windows 10 and too many plugins

I set my preferences to open .nki as omni, slightly more convenient for me in general, because of that.

I can verify that, eg., Funk Kit from Factory Selection is not independent from the other patch I loaded. So I suppose that's that.
Sorry about that.

It's a feature not a bug! :P

Hi SoundPorn, K6 is very similar, the left hand pane has a different layout in K6, different/less options. - My set up is exactly as shown in Kenny's vid. I'm assuming Kenny loaded a default factory instance of K5 Player without changing any settings before hand, if he had needed to change anything to get it to work right I'm sure he would have mentioned it....what's bewildering is Kenny's drum kit shows Midi CH [A] 2+Groups but works as it should.

I found this....not possible in K6 player though, the cogs icon just opens a preferences window.

This is incorrect. K6 definitely does have instrument edit mode, but certain encoded Kontakt Player libraries have locked instrument editing functionality. Not the factory library, though, you can freely edit it.
Hi ED, I'm talking about group editor not instrument editor, yeah I can edit the instruments no problem.

K6 definitely has the Group Editor still. But I don't know why people still bother with it. You have a much bigger list of groups available in left side browser, go to Expert tab, then Groups. :)

In the video SoundPorn showed, the guy was arming MIDI tracks to record separately.

"..so if we change this over here, we hear the vibes". The implication is that otherwise you wouldn't.

This specifically is why I went into Solo Edit mode. With the groups all set to omni, if you want to record bass and drums simultaneously, the bass notes are going to trigger drum notes. I'm not sure what the upside is to recording two different musical roles at the same time for your use case, but independence isn't going to happen with the drums instruments set this way.

The only case I have had where I needed to get busy with Groups is creating keyswitch behavior for older instruments (ie., which didn't convert from Gigastudio except for the samples). I don't build instruments from scratch, so I wouldn't know.

Yeah I saw that, clicking it takes me nowhere. - on the bright side, I went through all the factory folders and found the drum kits in 'Urban beats' and 'Vintage' load without the +Groups and work as normal....my hammer is back in the tool box for now.
