This review gave it 4 out of 5 stars.

It's a bit strange as when you read the review it sounds more like it would be 2 out of 5 stars or 3 at the very most.

I demo’d It a while back, didn’t offer me anything new. If you’re into ‘edm’ you may like the presets but as far as a synth goes, I wouldn’t bother if you own Avenger, Omni, Rapid etc.

What's going on with Dance Midi Samples? Did they close? Their website has been down for at least a week. I emailed them but received no response, also no response to my Facebook message. I think they've even taken their Facebook page down?

Weird. They were pretty responsive when I last emailed them.
I never succeeded in demoing this synth. At first I installed it and it crashed Cubase everytime I loaded a preset (that's why I emailed them, but I got discouraged after a few weeks that no solution was found and gave up). Then the new version came out. I tried to download it and never managed to get it, dl failed everytime. Then the website disappeared.

Please don’t read the above post. It’s a stupid one. Simply pass.

The KVR product page has the url for DMS Ascension at https://www.ascension-vst-synthesizer.com/ and not http://www.dancemidisamples.com/ which indeed seems to be defunct.
edit: And this was post #1000.

I too was worried about the fate of Dance Midi Samples but now they have tweeted this: https://twitter.com/dancemidisamps?lang=en
So they are still here. They are now selling DMS Ascension for $99 here on KVR Marketplace. Maybe it's just a passing sale or the new regular price, idk.
I own DMS Ascension (bought it last summer) and I personally like it a lot, even if I own other good soft-synths (UVI Falcon, Steinberg HALion 6).
I am glad to see that they still seem to be here.

I just noticed that the product description on the KVR product page now has a direct link to a download copy of the demo, which might (?) also be the full installer as the download is an 8.2GB zipfile. Downloading it now and will see what happens.
Anyone else tried this one? It looks interesting at the current price, but as noted above it has been bizarrely difficult to find much in the way of reviews or commentary on this one. A web search reveals the product website, the KVR product page and this thread, and... not much else.

I reached out to them with you a few questions, one being are they still actively developing Ascension?
They replied pretty quickly stating DMS has closed its doors because it can’t compete with Avenger etc but they would keep Ascension alive as long as there’s demand for it.
Make of that what you will but I think I’ll be keeping my $99 in my wallet.

That is bad news... DMS Ascension is not a popular synth despite the fact that it's a good one (IMO).
There was one or more pro-review that was positive but it has not moved the needle.
If there is a permanent price point of $99, then it might help a bit. I hope so... It sucks to end up with abandonware.

They just updated the synth with new presets. Crazy I never heard of this I think it's super interesting the thing comes with 10 gigs and over 1700 midi sequences. I feel like it if you could drag and drop midi to and from ur daw and edit midi, maybe even have a sequence per oscillator this would be kinda amazing.

I think that's a deal for what it comes with, it seems they were going under tho and WA Prod will give them the marketing they couldn't get before.

Well, I did think it was worth the money at that time, though it still feels bad knowing that I could have saved $60 with some patience.SoundPorn wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 7:59 am I think that's a deal for what it comes with, it seems they were going under tho and WA Prod will give them the marketing they couldn't get before.hhuang9611 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 7:54 am WTF?... Anyway, the more important question, who will be maintaining the product then? Will I get the future update through KVR marketplace?
