Im 99% sure Adam knows about this one and how Formant (filtering it is to say) works, but he doesnt know how Virus Ti Formant oscillator works, because its a bit different then your usual formant filtering. Also it sounds quite different then your typical formant thing you would expect to hear.

Here is a demo I found on YouTube. It should be a matter of putting a scope on the resultant waveform and figure out what it is doing and then figuring out how to code it:

Isn't this the same thing as Malstrom's (in Reason) oscillator?

From NI Reaktor forum -
"Malstrom's graintable oscillator is essentially the same thing as Reaktor's Pitch Former module; it decouples the formant from the pitch. Thus, you can force any pitch onto the sample and the formants stay the same, or you can give any pitch the formant structure of one transposed up or down. Loading wavetables into the Pitch Former does a credible job of Malstrom-style graintable synthesis.

However, Malstrom also aligns the phase of the wavetables. This you can do from Reaktor's File/Batch Processing command."

Its nice to see such ambition but leave this to people who actually know things because you dont (no disrespect). Im pretty sure Adam knows better then you do otherwise he wouldnt say what he said and he didnt coded Viper blindly from youtube demos, so you arent much of a help :-)

I think Adam himself is capable to decide what to watch and what not and he doesn't need pseudo mouthpieces to speak for himself

Not sure how you would know what I do or do not know. Adam asked for some help and I attempted to provide it. If it isn't helpful, he is free to not accept it. In any case, be the solution...

To change topic haha, are there any new additions to the "Character" FX? I think there are several!

If it only were so simple. I have my own Virus TI, so I can do all the analysis I want, but coding it is a different matter. If any one knows of a reaktor ensemble that does something similar I can also take a look at that to figure it out.

Viper will definitely have more Character FXs in the future!

How are things coming along? will the new update be released this month? :)

I found a couple of more bugs I had to fix, but now I need to create wavetables for the wavetable osc. If anyone has some of those that you created I gladly accept them to speed up the process ;) Yes hopefully I can finally release it by the end of the month.

It's your synth, but, i would select them wisely. There's a gazillion of really shitty wavetables out there. Some of the few synths which have some nice wavetables are the Waldorf synths, and the Virus appears to have some nice ones as well. Most of them are absolutely horrible. I really don't know why they end up in commercial soft synths, which go for 100 € plus.

Just my 2c. :D

Post

Yeah the plan is to get/make lots of wavetables and only have the best that is usable no filler bullshit
