Musikmesse 2013Cerberus Audio announces "Epoch Dynamic Comb Filter" for Win & Mac VST, VST3 & AU

-
Cerberus Audio

Cerberus Audio has announced Epoch Dynamic Comb Filter, a plug-in effect for achieving unique dynamic tonal shifts, and an alternative to conventional signal processors, such as equalizers and compressors.

Unlike ordinary equalizers, Epoch applies its effect according to the dynamics of the program material, similar to how a compressor/gate works.

Compared with ordinary compressors: Epoch provides a greater range of tonal color, and Epoch is more reactive to its input signal than a typical static filter or equalizer.

The heart of Epoch is a high-precision comb filter employing a multi-resolution FFT phase rotator and a fractional sample delay. Epoch's effect is regulated by a dynamics section which has been specifically designed for Epoch.

Epoch will be available for OS X and Windows in VST, AU, and VST3 formats with pricing and release date to be announced.

Features

Comb Filter Section:

  • 360° Phase Rotator.
  • Sub-Sample Delay.

Dynamics Section:

  • Multiple Envelope Detectors.
  • Program Dependent Release.
  • Gate/Expander Behavior.
  • External Side Chain.
  • Anti-Aliasing.

General:

  • Undo/Redo with Unlimited Steps.
  • 4 Persistent Memory Banks.
  • Double Precision Signal Path.
  • Parallel Processing.
  • Secret Sauce.

I had the extreme pleasure of helping with the beta-testing this awesome and amazing plugin, and I am so pleased to see it released for public consumption. Even after using this for almost 3 weeks now, I still feel like I am barely scratching the surface of what it is capable of. Truly an innovative idea and VERY clever and efficient coding. And for the record, the "secret sauce" is indeed tasty and mouth-watering.

I am still working onto how to use this, er, plugin! It is so hard to listen to differences! They should make educational videos about it! Really.
