Soundiron releases "Street Bukit" DIY Urban Drum Kits for Kontakt

3rd July 2013

Soundiron has released the new Street Bukit; a deep collection of classic DIY ("Do-It-Yourself") drumkit sounds that are found in improvised urban street performers' drum kits. Street Bukit features 5 different buckets and 5 different pots and pans recorded in three ubiquitous urban environments: city street corner, open garage and a small apartment bedroom.

This ubiquitous style of home-made and found-sound percussion can be seen in action on busy street corners and parks in cities around the world. You'll find large and small plastic buckets, pots, pans and other scrap and found objects arranged into a rough sort of drum kit, played aggressively with marching drum sticks, brushes, mallets, hands and feet. Most well-known is the unique "kick drum" and "wah" effects that street drummers produce by deftly lifting and dropping the edge of a large bucket with the side of their foot. This kit is intended for crafting highly nuanced rhythms, grooves and cadences ranging from drum corps and breakbeat, to drum n' bass, industrial and tribal grooves.

Soundiron's team recorded dozens of different articulation and instrument types with 10 or more round-robins per velocity. It was captured in three different natural live environments: City Street, Garage and Bedroom to get the signature sound in its native environments just as it was intended. As a special bonus, there is a collection of high-fidelity live urban environmental field recordings and soundscapes. And included are the raw source recordings that have been warped into an array of custom ambiences, atmospheres, drones and pad FX instruments.

The custom interface is designed to provide full control over every aspect of the sound, while keeping it easy to jump in and play right out of the bucket. Users can load up one of the three main Ensembles (Street, Garage, Bedroom) to have everything at their fingertips, or load up the Solo presets to create tuned percussion blends with a pair of flexible articulation mix layers. Or they can use the expanded Megamixer system to build customizable 8-piece DIY kits and play live with their drum controllers. All Kontakt 5+ presets include the ability to save/load full arpeggiator presets and K5 Megamixer versions allow for full kit saving and loading.

This library requires the full retail version of Kontakt version 4.2.4 or later. Kontakt 5.1 or later required for some advanced features. This is a standard open format library, so all wav samples are accessible and editable. This product is not supported by the free Kontakt Player or special Libraries rack area.

Price: $59. It's on Sale for $47 through July 12, 2013.
