eXtream Software Development add USB audio support to Audio Evolution Mobile for Android

12th April 2013

eXtream Software Development are finalizing their work on integrating support for USB audio devices in their multitrack audio app for Android, Audio Evolution Mobile, which has just been updated to version 1.6.5. To overcome the limitations of the Android system, a USB audio driver was developed from scratch to get professional level audio into the hands of millions of Android phone and tablet users. Low latency, high resolution audio and multichannel connectivity will finally be achievable, making for an affordable mobile audio solution. A release is expected by the end of May, 2013.

Supported Android devices include the Google Nexus 7 and 10, most Acer and Asus tablets and phones like the popular Samsung S3 and Sony XPeria Z. Requirements are Android 3.1 or higher and a device with USB host mode. No rooting is required.

The USB audio devices need to be class compliant. Over 100 devices are currently on the compatibility list including the Apogee One, Behringer USB mixers, Blue microphones, FocusRite 2i2, M-Audio Fast Track, RME Babyface, Zoom H4n and many others. A basic stand-alone recorder app called USB Audio Recorder PRO, featuring multichannel recording and stereo playback, is already available from the Google Play Store, and has just been updated to v1.1.0.
