I wrote a piano canon, 3 bar canon on the octave. Decided to work quick and not think globally, so it's very meandering and a bit pants. Then I cut of the ridiculous pseudo-classical ending, turned it into a constantly rising (transposing) canon and added bass, chords and drums. Basically just a way to get thinking about tonality again instead of the usual textures, riffs and beats. I've really been dealing in the same currency for far too long and while the piano part was just an exercise to get me thinking quickly (it's pretty appalling on its own), I think once I fleshed it out it has some jazz as the basis of something bigger.

While I'm on the subject of canons and fugues, here's Fugue in G, something I wrote a while ago for organ that I think stands well on its own. This is a transposing canon with three layers that was a lot more tonally thought-out.

Since rounds, cannons and fugues are so interesting why don't you post some of your own in this thread if you've done any. Or why not give it a try?

Here's an awesome "quick inspiration" video that got me interested again, by a great Youtuber who you should definitely check out:
