Using a vocoder to generate a human sounding voice

yeah, there are all kinds of interesting synths that none of the magazines or posters here will ever tell you about, basically because they like society being all moronic and buying stuff that keeps people stupid instead of articulate, informed, capable and autonomous and able to see through tedious bullshit.
if i had half a dozen people working under me, you'd be able to record a few sentences of your speech into an app, have the phonemic data analysed and be presented with a vocal synthesizer in your dialect.
but here's what you get, and it makes me laugh -
one of the major companies *actually* released a vocal synthesizer as sophisticated as the one released by a certain amateur (both synths have formant bands, iirc the amateur release had 8, the commercial release 7, which sounds somewhat better than the usual 3 or 4 these kinds of ancient technologies are usually published with) -
and you can read through the entire list of voluminous praise for this commercial release (don't bother mentioning the name of the other guy)
and all of humanity are using this synthesizer to make 70s/80s computer voices.
not a *single* user (at least, any that post, which *could* be crucial) pushing it to its capability of emulating a "human" performance.
if you were a synth developer, it would make you cry and cut off one of your testicles in the hopes that don mclean would understand.

If you figure it out don't forget to try the currently free CA-2A from Cakewalk. There's rumors going round that it's very good on vocals.

Most vocoder so will allow you to shift the formant that you are imposing onto the carrier signal which can make things sound a bit more feminine or masculine as needed. Then its just a matter of picking the right material to use for the carrier. Clive had good results for big groups of voices using a mix of crowd noise, filtered white noise and choir samples. If you want something that's smaller you'll want to start with a pulse wave somewhere around 25%. Then filter that a bit and add noise as needed. The real work is in making the performance realisticly human. You'll want to closely examine some actual singing to see where there is and isn't vibrato, and where the litte pitch variations throughout words go. That's is what makes some peoples vocoder use sound so good. Honestly I would go with a harmonizer for your stated purpose. It will do what you want far faster and easier.

Alter/Ego by Plogue can maybe help.
1. The Prodyon-idiot is a scammer.
2. Remind point 1.
Why did you post that?thecontrolcentre wrote:Maybe you need a harmonizer ... something like Enchoir https://www.kvraudio.com/product/enchoir-by-prodyon

Madrona Labs Virta excels at this.
There's a sound analysis module which outputs information like "pitch", "noisiness", "volume" etc that can be used as modulation sources the same way you'd use an LFO or envelope. You can get the carrier signal sounding fairly human before you even start looking at the vocoder section.

@ CinningBao
I guess he is referring to Wolfgang Palm's PPG Phonem.
It shone like a bright comet about a year ago and then disappeared from view again.
It can do an awful lot, but indeed, I have never heard anyone using it for real sentences. Probably because it has quite a steep learning curve and a rather awkward way of saving things.

If you're okay with iLok, Antares Mutator is $24 today, and will let you modify the hell out of voices.

Your thoughts are appreciated.
Not possible and not the intention of vocoder technology, as it was made in the late 1940ies to reduce comlexity of human voices for transmission lines.

I'd go with Syng but it's not the simplest to figure out
