Tilting At Windmills
Basic track consisting of acoustic guitar, short electric guitar solo, synth bass and a simple synth melody line. The real sound is the drums and to create these I just hit random things around my house. Therefore the kick drum was my couch cushions, the snare was a plastic milk carton, the hi hats was a scrunched up plastic bag and the cow bell was a saucepan. The sounds are as recorded with no processing bar a little EQ.
DAWs
Tracktion 7
Reason 3
Instruments
Epiphone acoustic guitar
Peavey electric guitar
Shure SM57 mic
Plug-Ins
Tracktion 4-Band Equaliser & Low/High-Pass Filter
Blue Cat Chorus

Started out as a droney hum-along melody on acoustic guitar. Things got weird, and I added several more elements. It's all in open G for simplicity's sake. Wrote some lyrics, and ended up with a 3 minute song. The melody became the lazy chorus 'nah nah nah' bit. Drums went down after guitar, so there are some timing, uh, variations, to say the least.
I think the unwitting "real" sound is the hum from my amp, and the air conditioner. My intention was to capture the room sound as the 'real' part, but I ended up getting just about everything on mic anyway.
mic'd instruments:
Shakers, Mustard Seed Tin, Tourist Maracas, and Tambourine
Acoustic Guitar
Telecaster through my amp
Voice
Direct:
Bass
VI:
Addictive Drums kick, snare, overhead, and room
