ooh .. good track
I like the energy.
Listening now on crappy netbook speakers but I'm already impressed by the sound design.

Very powerful tool. It can easily ruin all the dynamics.
I had to update my entry with it - at least not to lose in a loudness war .

These kind of tools are indeed quite powerful. Some tracks needs them. I sometimes use Aradaz Maximizer as well. But I tend to think it is more aggressive than LoudMax (or I cannot use it ).sfiks wrote: Thank you for LoudMax, Jay!

I pay attention not to ruin my dynamics with it. I'm usually at minimum settings. I don't have much tools to check it. I use my ears, but I also keep an eye on Reaper's meter while I export.

Hi,
used this synth now a bit (OSX v4.0.1) and really love it esp. for the huge palette of sounds it is capable of. Also tried to use only synths fx only (except eq, compression etc. of course). And I thought about, how it could be improved, without adding lots of code lines.
So here are my suggestions to the devs of tunefish4, hope you don't mind that I post it here for an open discussion and you understand this as a positive constructive critics:
- The "modulation" itself should be addressable thru the mod matrix. Currently it is not available in the target list. In my tune, I modulate this to make the bass sounding in more variety a.k.a. sounding in a more analogue touch / emulation of an OSC-no-retrigger-mode. Without it, the bass would sound very statical. However, because "modulation" is not accessible, I used a Renoise's meta LFO, triggered by key tracker etc.
- Kind of OSC retrigger/no retrigger control for the unisono, so it doesn't sound so identical / statical on every start of a same note.
- The chorus effect could be improved a bit. It introduces a bit of annoying phasing, if mixed not 100%. So it more sounds like a phaser, which isn't the purpose of a chorus.
- The reverb lacks of an high pass filter. HP-ing a reverb is quite essential for depth control in my humble opinion. Also the damping could do a more heavy damping. I also missed a pre delay control, seems to be hard-wired to the roomsize?
- The delay lacks of high pass and lowpass filters for the wet amount. Currently I find it quite brutal.
- Distortion effect: I could not find any usage for the distortion, but I would have loved to use it. I am missing somehow a tilt filter in it. Did you people successfully use it?
- Would love to see vibrato control thru modulation wheel or a third LFO for this purpose. Vibrato thru LFO did not sound too nice to me, maybe because of the LFO waveforms? I don't know exactly.
- LFO 1/2( /3) depth accessible in the mod matrix. So you can fade in the lfo amount on note retrigger / wire an ADSR to the LFO amount, e.g. for vibrato.
- If you add reverb or remove it (and other fx, too), the overall loudness quite drastically changes, even if the reverb has 0% wet amount. Would be more easy to handle if the volume would not change here.
- The synth seems to sound much better on high pitched notes than on low frequencies to me. I don't know what the cause is for this, but I guess it's the way harmonics are added to the sound. It could be more rich or more tight on low area? Or the opposite? Kind a question of harmonic scaling?
What do you think about these ideas?
Thanks and greetings.

Sounds like a couple of really nice ideas. I'm sorry I did not find much time this month to fix a couple more of the reported bugs. I clearly need to put more time into development again and I hope I will find some in the near future.Hanz Meyzer wrote: What do you think about these ideas?
That said, if anyone is willing to help with development, that would be much appreciated, Tunefish is open source after all

Here we go, my entry this month is an attempt
of some kind of sci-fi movie soundtrack,
(there are also suggestions to "The Future Sound Of London")
this piece is meant for the theatre, not for dancing or jogging!
So the to enjoy it at best I suggest listening to it in a quiet dark room,
possibly with big speakers, loud but not too loud.
You can download it for higher quality.
https://soundcloud.com/liqih/beat-of-the-galaxies
-title: Beat Of The Galaxies
DAW :
- energyXT with 10 synth instances
Effects:
- energyXT EQ
- cleancomp by Steinberg,
an old free plugin released in a bundle many years ago.
Parameters automation used on almost all 10 custom patches.
Many thanks to those who listened the preview and gave suggestions,
especially to Taron who helped me to identify weaknesses in the rhythm.
Many thanks to Brain Control for such versatile synth.

apparently there's a serious bug with recalling patches upon project load?
all instances of Tunefish4 recalled the default patch instead of what I patched in...
