The delay is a cheap and pretty nasty bbd-style. It's not digital.v1o wrote:Being that the delay is completely digital. I hope that they release a firmware update so you can use it as a chorus or reverb effect instead.

I believe the delay is digital, but the feedback section is not, thus the increasing noise as the signal goes round and round the feeedback section. Makes it very useful if you ask me.

Bought a Minilogue today, but had to return it due to flakey power connection and loud note-off clicking. Very disappointed.
*edit* Finally the replacement has arrived. Now for some quality time

Just received my Minilogue this week after waiting for SIX MONTHS. That's Australia for you. It's only just this weekend now that I've had time to sit down and give it a good workout. Overall I'm quite pleased with the purchase though the onboard delay I'm not too overwhelmed with.
Just make the music that you enjoy (failing that go for a walk, watch some porn, have a fight with a random bloke until something else happens).

the delay is just a bonus. no point bitching about it. it has some sweet spots where it sounds great and doubles up as a reverb.
for anyone interested I found some knob replacements which fit well, though expensive

Anyway, there is a significant distance between being "not too overwhelmed with" and "bitching"...bitch.
And damned be the nuthouse who would turn Minilogue into a lollipop with knobs like these. Its a felony and should be punished.

I envision glow-sticks, candy bracelets, and stacks of empty pizza boxes, mingled with stuffed unicorns... in that; "tricks are for kids", kinda way.

I think whether or not you like the delay depends entirely on your expectations of it. If you expect (or want) a really clean, standard delay like you'd get on a digital synth or as a native plugin in a DAW, chances are you won't like it. If you want something that's used as more of a coloring effect, a spring reverb, or a playable dub-style delay, you may end up loving it. It's not something you can use on every sound, but it's something that can be incredibly useful in shaping a sound.
I came from the fortunate position of having never heard of the Minilogue, playing it by chance in store, and falling in love with it. My instant thought was how good this could be for dub techno-influenced sounds, and so that delay unit just sounded great to me as a combination delay-reverb-dirtifier effect. Like I said though, it doesn't get used on every sound, and yeah, maybe a regular ol' boring delay would actually be more useful overall. But I'm glad it's there! You just need to know when and how to use it.

Personally, I do not like the multi-colored lollipop look, though I do see where in a dj setup they might be a good thing. I like the black ones that Olikana posted.

Definitely better.
