Kraz, sorry for your cold. Get well soon, right?

We need an am-munition video tutorial. Would you mind making one? If you happen to be in Berlin any time (for whatever reason), that would be perfect... or are you coming to the Frankfurt Messe?
Sascha, just wanted to sidestep a moment and acknowledge how awesome Am-munition is! It is probably my new first go-to plugin for mixing. Can't thank you enough for this one!

Kraznet wrote:Thanks guys . I had a feeling I would catch something as soon as I had to sit next to a woman who was coughing and spluttering when returning from Paris on the Eurostar  Anyway I'm managing to function just about .

Hi Sascha :) Doing a tutorial for Ammunition is on my list but I think I would need time to get my head around as I haven't yet checked it out in detail . I haven't any plans to go to the Messe but I can't think as far ahead as mid March at the moment . If you have any suggestion about the Ammunition tutorial maybe you can PM me on the Samp forum or pass them onto Michael .I would certainly consider getting together with you to collaborate on a video .

Regards
Kraznet
and along with the Am-munition video would be a tutorial on side-chaining. Many people are still asking me whether Samplitude has side-chaining or not.

Thanks again,

Greg

I wonder too why Sequoia is so little talked about in the forum?

Could it be the price? Costing "just" $2975 :o

Or could it be that the name is difficult to type :D

Now at v13 I guess somebody must be using it :?

Samplitude is an incredible DAW. i love it to bits. i am not sure if Sequoia would make any difference to me, as i understand it people who do soundtrack work etc.use it, perhaps similar to the difference between cubase and nuendo?
my only complaint about it ( and i think i have left posts for Kraznet about this), is that it is severely under-promoted. it's a vast and deep program and there needs to be more tuition, more instruction to really get the most out of it...

Sequoia is a great DAW that gets basically NO marketing by Magix.
Many major studios use it.

+1

I'm another major fan of Samplitude as well. The Pro X2 Suite is heavily used in my home studio.

There is not even an entry for it in the KVR database

I like to read about the history of plugs, but not even Sound on Sound has much information about it

Hey Kraz,

I have windows code that converts Samp EDL to Studio One *.song format. It works really well and their EDL format is surprisingly well designed. I asked them via email to add the song tempo to the EDL output and they replied that development on the EDL has halted, that there won't be any more changes to it. Maybe you can convince them otherwise.

In the interim, because the tempo value isn't written, I have to make the tempo part of the filename for the translastion to place everything correctly.

Their EDL format is really, really well done otherwise though. :tu:

Could be the longest lived commie-DAW :D
Samplitude has its roots in the former Communist bloc. Tilman Herberger and Titus Tost met at university in the former German Democratic Republic, where they managed to get their hands on the first Commodore Amiga microcomputer to make it through the Iron Curtain. It was for this platform that early versions of Samplitude were developed and, following the reunification of the country, released commercially. From the beginning, it was a fully native application, and in 1994, Herberger and Tost ported Samplitude to the Windows platform. They remain very much in charge of its development.
Excellent SOS info :tu:

Hi Lawrence,

I was unaware that Magix had halted development of EDL although I'm not sure anything has been added to it years anyaway. I will look into it.

that's basically it. Sequoia is what Nuendo is to cubase and what PT HD i to PT vanilla. Extended post features.

Samplitude is a very interesting daw, if i was majoring in windows i would have considered it very seriously.

it's a shame magix have such a poor attitude to their commercial plugins though and don't answer emails. Pulse is still the best *sounding* transient designer ever made, and you can't even demo the AU properly since snow leopard. For example.

But the kit that comes with samplitude is all top level, as well as very deep audio editing, and midi on par with reaper/PT, etc.

I thought I had it working in Yosemite. I'll have to check.
