(updating my info here) Soundtrack for Mega Neon Pong's menu and basic (nearly playable :hihi: ) gameplay. Started the game a few days ago as my own personal game jam (Did the visual style a few months ago). The game is alpha build, so warning.

All SFX were using Noisemaker

Cubase 6: Ping Pong, channel eq, studio eq, bitcrusher
Tal Reverb
SPAN analyzer
George Yohng Limiter 1
Kjaerhaus Classic Reverb
Instances: 10

More info on the game:
There are 21 different map styles. Each map is quite different - some are claustrophobic, and others have a visual impediment to deal with. One of the maps has a cool ripple effect that hits the walls (didn't have time to add it to all maps).

The AI is super basic, and sucks, but works. The collision is the worst part... i didn't have time to make it proper, so it could get nasty, and require a restart of the game. And hence that is the reason you win after 5 points... 11 isn't realistic right now

All in all a fun experience.

The game was made using Unity 5.4.0b23 beta build. The grahpical style is extremely odd, in that it relies entirely on post-fx shaders. Not only that, but it relies on abusing various post-fx beyond their purpose. For example stacking multiple blooms along with ambient occlusion turned up all the way, on top of the debugging visual queue of an anti-aliasing filter (converts scene to edges). That's the gist of the neon effect.

First time participan here.. but I'm not sure if too late or not. Would be great to include the actual timezone of "KVR Time" in the future :)

Anyways - even if it does not count because of Timezones and stuff - here's my track:

Made with Bitwig Studio - 14 Instances of TAL Noisemaker + TAL-Reverb II (and native bitwig effects)

HOW FUN! But also...eh...how fuzzy and hard on the eyes in various styles, hehehe. Also, the computer opponent does some funky cheat-leaps, hehehe. Music is GREAT, though! Very stylish! ;) :tu:

Pong was one of my first openGL shader (GLSL) experiments in BlitzMax about 6 years ago:

- use the mouse to move your player bar and hold mouse button to accelerate the pong!

...more importantly, though, it has my very, very first synthesizer/sound generator code, which would generate all sounds in the init. It wasn't real time then.

Anyway, brings back memories! :)

THANKS FOR SHARING!

Super late, as always... but I started the day with some bits and pieces and ended the night with a song, soooo.... here it is. I had more in mind, but sadly no more hours, I'm really pushing it as is, but hey it's not tomorrow cause I haven't slept yet (sorry, I think I may have already tried that excuse).

Made in FL Studio
Effects used:
Fruity Parametric EQ 2
Maximus
Tila 2
OTT
GComp2
TAL Filter
Dominion
GTO
A1 Trigger Gate (with the gate turned off. used only for the saturation, which I normally think sounds terrible, but this time it somehow just worked)

I've had a hectic month and am in the process of moving, so I haven't been around here at all, but I HAD to finish a track this month... I didn't know about the OSC when it came up the first time, so I was super happy to see it got picked again!

Noisemaker is one of the first really good free synths I found, and it's definitely one of my favoutites. I love this thing so much and I really wanted to use it in a OSC, now that day has finally come :wheee:

I'm back to mixing in mono though... I had a little USB soundcard that I could plug my headphones into, but it started crashing my pc volume mixer thing, so sadly there's no use of stereo space :(
ah well, I'm just happy to be using this awesome synth to do this also awesome challenge

Amazing work! Looks and feels very good.

RE neon mega pong: Some of the various styles are definitely a bit too much. I might try changing the colors to be less bright. Probably half of them will get axed and replaced.

Voted (Yes, voted)

Cheese and crackers. You guys really brought it this month. So no, voting in this kind of field doesn't take long when you blow me away within the first minute. And since I don't vote on a curve (X number of people get 5s, 4s, etc.) this month was a snap. In fact, here was the breakdown.

5s - 17
4s - 24
3s - 21
2s - 6
1s - 2 (including my own)

Here's how it was so easy and quick. First off, I listened to a lot of tracks before the voting even started so that helped a lot.

5s - I was floored almost out of the gate. Didn't need to listen to more than 30 to 60 seconds. Stopped track and tossed you up in the 5s.

4s - Excellent mix and performance but musically missed the mark. Listened to these a little long but after 2 minutes could tell where it was going and didn't need to listen any more. Tossed you in the 4s.

3s - Good mix and performance but didn't like it musically at all. So instead of letting my musical bias give you a 2 or 1, like so many people here do, I gave you at least a 3. For a good mix and performance, you deserve that much.

2s - Most of these after 2 minutes just droned on and on. Didn't go anywhere, didn't like the music and didn't think the mix and performance was all that good. These got 2s.

1s - Just a horrible mess, IMO. Only 1 track besides my own obligatory one got a 1.

Using this system, took me just a few hours to go through all 70 tracks. A couple I did listen to all the way through because I enjoyed them musically so much. I won't list all the 5s like I usually do because there are just too many. You can look at the spreadsheet at the end to see what you got from me.

As for where my own track should finish, being totally objective, probably somewhere around 62nd. But we'll see. More likely I will finish around 68th or 69th. Either way, it is clear after this slam dunk month that I am WAY out of the league of many of these artists. Some of the stuff this month was just spellbinding.

I am going to go out on a limb and predict my top 5 though I wouldn't bet the store on this as there are just too many great tracks.

1 ThePresent - Rehearsing In Pasadena
2 Meakaale - Mower Shreds
3 rghvdberg - Today Is Not The Day
4 Taron - TALon Becomings
5 Richard Semper - Clear Vinyl Promo

The only one I am 100% sure of is ThePresent. Those drums alone should seal the deal.

Anyway, that's it from me. And this is my LAST OSC.

This month made that decision a no brainer.

Good luck to all of you.

Post

Steven, I miss you already.

I still want to work with you. Off course it doesn't have to be OSC.
