I just ordered the update, on the last page we usually are taken to the download area, this was not the case today so I'm left without a download, instead I see a promo for the new webstore and a MetaSynth Special-ad.

Sampleconstruct wrote:Would it be possible that with each update the prefs don't reset to default please?
Generally yes, but it was required in this case bc a few of the prefs changed (some added, some removed) with this update.

I see, but from the last Beta to this one the reset also occurred, anyway it's all running as it should now.Galbanum wrote:Sampleconstruct wrote:Would it be possible that with each update the prefs don't reset to default please?

I save a preset with a time of 88 seconds for one cycle through an image, I recall that preset and the time is now set to 87.99718 seconds, not that I would notice it while listening but it seems like a bug to me.

yes, we see. good catch. we will see what we can do. (the reason is happens is basically we use the Hertz value as the parameter internally, and when you enter seconds we just convert it to hertz with 1/seconds, and there is some precision limit on the GUI display that does not show full precision for parameter values b/c they normally would not fit in the GUI space. We should be able to address this.)Sampleconstruct wrote:I save a preset with a time of 88 seconds for one cycle through an image, I recall that preset and the time is now set to 87.99718 seconds, not that I would notice it while listening but it seems like a bug to me.
meanwhile anyone want to build a 192 (8 * 24) core xeon system!?!?

should only set you back $75K or so. what's $75k between friends.

Mac version here AU Kaleidoscope in Logic X.
I tried to freeze the audio stereo channel where Kaleidoscope was on insert, and after rendering audio was not on the same place. Delay compensation setting was on All.
Weird..
Edit: OK by default rendering buffer was really high, but when I changed the buffer to auto, sample delay compensation was correct.
It is OK now.

Microtonal glassy textures, 4 instances of KS tweaked live on video:

----
EDIT (later)
Rhythmical stuff:
Four instances of Kaleidoscope processing some modulated crackling noise and a darabuka beat. Changing root notes in the bass sequencer and mixing on the fly - KS rocks!

One final update:
http://www.designersound.com/product_in ... cts_id=116
b479
(a prime indeed!)
We've squeezed out a little bit more performance improvement on String Resonators on the latest generation CPUs and finalized the latest AAX support.
New version 1.1 demo versions are online now too:

Simon, your videos rock. Do you create yourself the images you use inside KS or do you use the ones it comes with ?

Thank you, I only use my own images/tuning files/waveforms, very seldom I will use a tuning file from the Architecture Vol. 1-expansion.Wanterkeelt wrote:Sampleconstruct wrote:Microtonal glassy textures, 4 instances of KS tweaked live on video:

Andrew, the new beta works flawlessly on my i7 3930K, Win7, Reaper 5.2 so far. Great job !
You mentioned somewhere that you recommend to set buffer size to AUTO, but what about Multithreading ? Does Multithread 25% mean it will use 25% of the number of cores of the CPU ? I simply went 100% and it seems to distribute the calculations on all cores +- equally. Right ?
Thanks
