Theres also Hexter, which you might find in the old VST Gems thread. Actually sounds very good and imports DX7 patches better than Sytrus.

In 2016, the linux version of Hexter (dssi) is excellent, with a great gui for editing,VariKusBrainZ wrote:Theres also Hexter, which you might find in the old VST Gems thread. Actually sounds very good and imports DX7 patches better than Sytrus.
can hold 3 sysex files at a time, and probably wouldn't even register a blip on an i7.
Cheers

I think that's just a version of the original dx10 with a skin, but the original with no gui is perfectly usable, you can find it here http://mda.smartelectronix.com/synths.htm It's a little thing that sounds very nice, I've had it for many years and like ithuibjandejong wrote:Where can you get it for free?birrbits wrote:free!

Yes, they even say that themselves. Was just wondering, because they say DX10 is x64 as well, while all MDA stuff is not, I believe. Also, I failed to notice this thread is 6 years oldMac of BIOnighT wrote: I think that's just a version of the original dx10 with a skin, but the original with no gui is perfectly usable, you can find it here http://mda.smartelectronix.com/synths.htm It's a little thing that sounds very nice, I've had it for many years and like it

you absolutely right, the original is the mda version which was open source i found a company with a "synth pack" which was revamped version of the jx10 and dx10 mda synths.

if i was you I'd get Ni's Komplete, wait for a sale during the summer. last summer i got Komplete for 200 bucks
inside you'll get FM8 which, if i recall correctly, it can load most of Yamaha's various hardware FM synths.
FM8 has the advantage of a completely modular approach to modulator and Carrier Algorithms
and unlike usual FM synth it has a Filter and multi-point drawable envelopes for everything
