Count-in or timer for the playback in Live 9?

Is there anyway to get the Live 9.6 to make a count-in BEFORE the playback?
This function is needed e.g. whe using plugins such a Edison to record
a loop alongside the existing file in the Live. When you set the Edison to records "when the host play", the regoding starts immediately once you hit the Live play.
But we need, of course, a couple of seconds, to put our fingers to the instrument, therefore we needed a playback count-in. But how? (and don't suggest recorded click, because once you hit the play, the Edison starts recording).

So right-clicking on the metronome and setting a count-in length is not working?

Otherwise have a look at the suggestion in this thread: https://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=161423

Are you using Session or Arrangement View?

? That is recording count-in. What I need is playback count-in -or in fact a timer, which counts with clicks before turns on the "play".

You can try to use an empty dummy clip as workaround. Here's an example using Session View: https://youtu.be/AyQ0F6rqpl8

A footswitch to trigger recording in Edison might do it ...

As said, as soon you hit the play, Edison starts the recording, i.e. any dummy click track won't help. The foot switch would do the trick, but don't own any - one could imagine that it was rather easy to implement click-timer to the Live, in the way you could set the timer to launch the "play" after a few seconds.

If the Ableton people are reading this, take the hint.

Could you use the recording count-in but have none of the tracks armed so in effect it *is* a playback count in ?

As said, as soon you hit the "play", Edison starts recording. There should be a timer function which launches the "play", including count-in in the Ableton Live.

Couldn't you just use the recording count in, record a clip at the same time as Edison is recording, then delete the clip?

Yes, that's possible, but not the most elegant way to do that, especially if you need this extra manouver every time you record with the Edison (or with any this kind of looper).

Why do you need to record an Ableton clip and a separate Edison take?

I ask as I dont see the value of this.
Amazon: why not use an alternative
