I did this test on mp3 compression the other day and failed miserably trying to pick out hq wav from 128kbps mp3 for some tracks. If you don't know what to listen for it can be hard to hear which is which, but some people claimed to get all answers right the first time so a trained ear can make all the difference.

@suloo:
In golden ears (and similar trainings) you compare two files where it is defined who something is supposed to sound.
When you compare e.g. an identical setting on two (real) pro1, there can still be audible differences.
But this does not mean that one isn't "real". To determine if a sound can't possibly be produced by an analog
synth means to now the exact limits of what is possible with the used components that may have variable calibrations etc.

Hi
Love this synth. I've shared a preset pack with my readers, and I'm sure a few people here would find it helpful too

No it doesn't. It is far simpler than that.Arrested Developer wrote:To determine if a sound can't possibly be produced by an analog

Since I've owned a Pro-One for almost 35 years, I listened to bits and pieces of your video. Most of the sounds sound very reminiscent of my Pro-One. I would play around with RePro more often if it stayed in sync with my Cubase LE4 sequencer. I hope this will work correctly in a beta version of RePro.Audio~Geek wrote:Hi

We'll try to figure something out, but the LFO of a faithful analogue model can't sync to a host...

One could use an LFO device and host automation to sync... since it is a monophonic synth anywayUrs wrote:hehehe, how do you sync your Pro-One to Cubase?aaron aardvark wrote:Since I've owned a Pro-One for almost 35 years, I listened to bits and pieces of your video.

that I've never spent much time in their forum, so your blog is new to me,
and the archive will be a great resource. Always need to keep learning!
Thanks for sharing such a trove knowledge.
Cheers

I currently can't sync my Pro-One to Cubase (I just have to play the Pro-One manually with my actual fingers!). If I wouldn't have sold my Roland TR-707 drum machine I would be able to (does not include LFO) do it (it had MIDI and CV), though I would be stuck with the Pro-One's sequencer (primitive, tedious to program, and dodgy). There are various products out there now that have MIDI and CV stuff. I imagine RePro will mostly replace my Pro-One anyway in the future. I have hardly used my Pro-One (which could use some work) in the last 15 years, though all of the talk about Pro-Ones renewed my interest. I won't cry too much if you can't sync the LFO (though it would be nice), but you gotta have it work for playing back notes (using Cubase sequencer) and be in sync with the music!Urs wrote:hehehe, how do you sync your Pro-One to Cubase?aaron aardvark wrote:Since I've owned a Pro-One for almost 35 years, I listened to bits and pieces of your video.
