Hi,
for the ones maybe have missed on the nu softing site: Knagalis is updated to 64 bit and with new sounds
For me maybe the best AND still in development ethnic VSTi. I have just recently looked for Ethnosphere but that dont seem to be in really active development anymore since years, doubt it will ever make it to 64 bit. And more expensive to.
I really love Knagalis cause if you need something in this specific ethnic soundsphere it is just there, small, great base of sounds and preset and not tons of sample libraries to load in kontakt.

quickly I answer: yes it's planned,aMUSEd wrote:Any chance of a larger gui?
for a ranting answer I'd say that choosing to update Peti and Knagalis to 64-bit
both for Mac and PC was a costly job, I think I owed that to the existing users and I made
the updates free for them. I hired a professional Mac programmer
to ensure the best stability and compatibility of the updates on OS X.
But now I hope that there will be new sales for the two plugins
and so I will also updates the interfaces . Both Peti and Knagalis show their old age as look
and interface size, but they still sound very good in the "specialized soft synths" scene,
the price is low, and of course with the support of new sales the development would continue.
Will the next users realize that? I don't know.
Anyway for Modelonia 2.0 at least I was also able to update the interface.

Thanks tatanka

Thanks for the bump, <wink>
About the GUI, yes I agree it's old looking
(I made it in 3D software in 2003!!!), it got at least 12 years, (but at least users were happy to have the 64-bit upgrade for free now)
So yes, new GUI is planned, maybe I will ask Branis to make something gorgeous like he made for Modelonia,
but I'm open to any suggestions, actually I'm curious how would you like the look for an "ethnic" synth .
which are the main bad points to fix?
Style? Colorus? Size? Fonts? *for real plugin size see:

Except that yellow background is replaced with black, I can't see much difference
The GUI is quite functional laid out, so that is good.
But it looks like it is 10-15 years old.
Would it be possible to ask Flavours of Lime to come up with a new up to date look ?
Or you can use the GUI framework for Modelonia v2 as basis, that is a very nice looking GUI, and also functional, easy to read names of controls

An ethnic synth or any synth for that matter needs to look inviting, and any paid synth needs to have a shine of "luxury" to attract customersbut I'm open to any suggestions, actually I'm curious how would you like the look for an "ethnic" synth. which are the main bad points to fix?

The old look was somehow intentionally made,
since Kangalis plays ancient instruments,
but I see your point.
Yes maybe I can ask Flavours of Lime
Thanks
(BTW yes I really think that Modelonia looks nice! But Knagalis should have its own style)

Well, the new one is appreciably bigger, so that's an improvement for contemporary monitors. Personally, my taste runs to flatter, less adorned GUIs, but I understand that Liqih wants to evoke something specific here.Numanoid wrote:Except that yellow background is replaced with black, I can't see much difference

I'd say 'clean' but a little bit toned down

It'll need to be a new version because unlike Modelonia, Knagalis doesn't have a skinning system that would allow such a drop in replacement. Not that I recall anyway.tatanka wrote:Will it be separate download as skin or new version to download with this one ?
For my part, one of the things I like about this one is the use of the serif fonts. Normally I'd loath that in a UI, but Knagalis is going for that vintage look, and that serif font just helps evoke that.
