Want a hi-hat secret? It may cause insanity...

Yes, I will accept any hi-hat secrets and I'm already insane so that won't be an issue.

@jasinski I think you mean to say... EVERYTHING is your jam. :)

Hope you get that sorted good sir.

And what I meant is- I use U-he stuff in my productions outside of OSC. :)

I've got a 808 style hi-hat just fine :)

Will upload a preset soon..

Hint- try playing clusters of notes.

... you can get faster LFO speeds by increasing the host tempo. At 512 BPM (or more), the LFO starts to go pretty fast at 1/64, you just need to modulate something with it . You can start getting noise pretty easy. But then... you have to use your host at 4x the normal tempo ;)

Post

Interesting! I'll have to play with that.

My best attempt at drums so far (3-layer kick, snappy snare, tom-toms, and Casio-style hats) without trying any LFO tricks:

There is reverb, saturation, and EQ on everything. Getting close to usable...

Here's some high-BPM trickij at work... muahahaha: https://soundcloud.com/z_prime/podolski-drums/s-CjY9t

A few tips beyond running your sequencer at 1 million BPM:
  • A few short delays stacked up (10-20ms) and reverb with multiple notes played offset very slightly help to fill the noise sound for the highs
  • EQ out the bottom if you need noise
  • Decent snare and kick can be 2 layers (only 2 instances each in the snippet)
  • OTT sometimes works nicely to boost the treble
  • Limiter 6 adds a nice crunch and punch to snares and kicks
  • Don't ever make this awful song

z.prime: Thanks for the tips! I might stick with the standard tempo on this one because I'm enjoying the retro sound so far.

bjporter: thanks!

This isn't at all productive, nor representative of what I'm going to be doing for the competition, and I'm certain people already know this buuuuuuut....*lower your volume*
