Hi guys!

Whether your tastes tend towards rock, roots, blues, reggae, bluegrass, Motown, folk – or even more experimental or ambient genres that still need a some organic uncertainty to them – we reckon this may be a bit of a secret weapon to inject some real-world vibe into your sound.

Prototype EP is a loving warts-and-all recreation of a deeply unusual East German electro-acoustic machine from the early 60s, boasting a tonal character entirely its own. Sounding like it's been hauled into the lab straight from the live room of a frontier whorehouse (or perhaps from a Soviet Berlin underground rock joint? ) Prototype EP brings epic levels of character and graunch to a track, and also layers very nicely with your favourite Rhodes or Wurli emulation when you want a traditional sound with a rougher edge. Tinetastic! :D

With a simple but powerful control set geared towards performance and immediacy, Prototype EP is capable of everything from tinkly clean tones through ambient strangeness to snarling aggression. Dial up additional sustain; detune the waves for smooth warmth; push the amp circuit into tube saturation for a classic bit of bite; all infused with the rattly, unpredictable sonics of the original hardware. We've captured these with our usual slightly obsessive attention to detail: there are multiple velocity layers, round-robins and key-off samples (to capture those tine thunks) – in all, over 480 individual samples are used to bring this quirky little beast to life :o

The result is a one-of-a-kind take on the classic EP: take a listen to the audio demos to hear it doing its thang. And as usual there's a neat launch offer to tempt you: for a limited time you can get Prototype EP for the special price of £16 instead of the RRP of £20.

Have fun!

Best wishes,
