What literature would you recommend in order to study the principles of Chromaphone style physical modelling synthesis?

JOS's site is great. Also check Perry cooks book and the STK. chroma phone is modal synthesis I think. Much of the literature on that is in academic papers

Yes, I think the Perry Cook book and the STK are like the Bible on this subject. Computer Music Tutorial from Curtis Roads also has many pages on this subject.
