Hi everyone,
i have a question: How can i controll / trigger the decay - time of my drum sound (e.g. hihat ) via its velocity values?

Either way, neither Simpler nor Sampler can do this natively.
What you can do is use this M4L device (http://www.maxforlive.com/library/devic ... ity-mapper) which allows you to map velocity to any parameter. Haven't tried it though.

I use simpler by ableton. if there is an alternative way via operator, i would really like to know how.BDeep wrote:What are you using for the hihat? Live's Simpler? Operator? A VST?

Thanks. I dont have M4l. I am using Ableton Live 7.6 (Focusrite Edition).BDeep wrote:Either way, neither Simpler nor Sampler can do this natively.

I think your best option is to use a third party sampler for this specific function, something like http://www.kvraudio.com/product/tx16wx- ... -by-cwitec will probably be able to do it, given that it has a modmatrix.
Note that you can create sort of a similar effect (not the same!) with Simpler by using the filter. Set the filter envelope to a short decay and sustain to zero, env to filter to max, and velocity to filter cutoff to 100%. You can use an eq afterwards to cut out the lower frequencies.
But using tx16w (or another sampler) should give you exactly what you want.

Thanks! Is its possible to use Vember Audio Shortcircuit for this job?

Probably! What you need is a way to set velocity to the decay stage of the envelope, likely with the use of a modmatrix. I don't know Shortcircuit that well, but it might do!

i've long thought this was one of the most obligatory routings and have put velocity trimmers for envelope stages (and most other parameters) right under the param for just about everything over the last decade. if you can use 32 bit vst for win, i have a ~"fancy" sampler "stoooner" that does a bunch of fft transforms to the sound and has expressive envelopes.
