I have, perhaps embarrasingly, swung completely the other direction and just put money down on Ozone 7 Advanced... so much for budget priced limiters *gulp!*

you made an absolutely superb decision. There is no limiter that is easier to use to get those results. try the vintage tube on really transient stuff, otherwise mode 4.
Every effect in that package is pure class

Yes, I've been playing with that one as well, and unlike our other dis-loyal anti-budget poster, I have not bought ozone advanced.VariKusBrainZ wrote:Did you check out the LVC plugins?MogwaiBoy wrote:How about this one then? OK it's mainly a compressor but it does limiting too - and is well inside the pricerange.VariKusBrainZ wrote:Its ancientMogwaiBoy wrote:^^^ Dude knows his stuff
Speaking of lower priced limiters - any experience with this one? It looks like a poke at Waves:

“Limited-MAX is a flexible master bus limiter that delivers results on a par with the more pricey competition. Impressive!” – 4.5 out of 5 star review from musicradar.

Nothing against Ozone, but you can always try out Limited-Z for free.
Many of the underlying features of Limited-MAX are packed into Limited-Z, albeit not adjustable.
If you like the way Limited-Z sounds, you can then decide if it is worth the price of Limited-MAX.

Well I will probably still end up getting Barricade for comparison - when I climb out of debt! I will have to force myself to avoid the Marketplace for awhile
The idea is to master our own tracks so as an investment it will pay for itself pretty quickly. iZotope offer some really comprehensive options - I'm a fan of their work. I had read that the limiters in the newer Ozone's are practically the best in the business, then there's everything else the package offers...
By all means get back on topic

If you are willing to spend $120 minimum, sometimes you can get Waves Gold for that price. A lot of other times it'll be between $150-$200. Lots of useful stuff in there and the L1 will only cost you a few dollars if you get a deal as it's 35 plug-ins. That new Bus Driver from Nomad Factory is pretty cool. Klanghelm MJUC is awesome for a lot of stuff and has a limit mode. Think it's usually under $40. 24 Euros. Ozone 7 does a lot of great stuff along with the limiting. I've seen it on sale here for $250.

MJUC can't be used as a brickwall limiter.ViciousBliss wrote:If you are willing to spend $120 minimum, sometimes you can get Waves Gold for that price. I suppose why people dislike anything called a limiter that does not brickwall is because there is always the added task of limiting any peaks from the attack of the "limiter", it's counter-intuitive.lesha wrote:MJUC can't be used as a brickwall limiter.ViciousBliss wrote:If you are willing to spend $120 minimum, sometimes you can get Waves Gold for that price. Currently on Sale, I demoed this one as a Rack Extension in Reason:http://www.kuassa.com/products/kratos-2-maximizer/ (http://www.kuassa.com/products/kratos-2-maximizer/)
Then ended up picking it up in VST form and using their crossgrade options to get the rack extension as well. It has a simple interface and for myself, and the type of music I make (Electronic), I found it easy to work with and dial in just the right amount of punch. Transparency, at least to my ears, seems decent enough. I was comparing it to an older version of Ozone (again a Rack Extension, not sure which VST version it's code is based on) which sounded pretty clean, but I found I liked the Kratos a little more simply for the OOMPH factor. I as well was looking for something that fit in the "budget" category and feel pretty good about my purchases. Previously, for VST based DAW's was working with Limiter No. 6, a very impressive option indeed, however, being more of a creative sort, I am not the most technically minded and found the interface and breadth of available features a little daunting and am sure i was not making the most of it. The Kratos suited me just fine as it did not take me long to be able to hear and feel the impact of dialing in changes to its gui.

Been using Ozone but I've found IK's Stealth to be clearer than the Maximizer module.
I still absolutely love Ozone though. The Dynamic EQ, Imager and Exciter are indispensable.

Another vote for Limiter No6.

Indeed. Once it's full price it won't be considered budget anymore.nicksohn wrote:Recently, Boz digital has a pre-order for mastering limiter called 'the wall'.
$99 -> $29
You can get it for even lower price at JRR Shop.
