So many interesting things out there after all.
There are three very interesting and cheap options since I last posted that I like..
the kaossilator pro+
the electribe 2
and the novation circuit
These are all geared towards dance.
Don't like the volca beats at all though, i was so hoping i would for that price.. maybe just the kick put me off and the rest of it's ok.
Anyway trying to work out a deal for a S/H rytm in the meantime, will see how we go.

Oh man, I've been avoiding a RYTM for a while, but christyomighty that sounds good. As far as I can tell Elektron seems to be the only ones really taking the analog drum machine in very interesting new directions. Thank god I don't have the room for one.

I've been exploring the new machines the past few days... haven't even tried all 12 yet, but this is a remarkable update. Beyond what anyone expected. Very diverse and sonically creative. The Rytm has just officially come into its full potential. It can have such a gorgeous raw sound. Elektron makes good machines, but the Rytm is something special.zerocrossing wrote:Oh man, I've been avoiding a RYTM for a while, but christyomighty that sounds good. If you don't want one, better you don't try it. Then again, it is rather small...

New fan of Gotharman's Little Deformer 2.
Samples or synth for whatever you want to make.
Up to 32 steps x 36 tracks (32 note tracks, 4 modulation controller tracks.
You will have to crack the manual, but navigating it shouldn't take too long to learn. Couple hours on mine and I love this thing. Really powerful grain sampler/synth/sequencer/crazy fx unit.
I just picked up a used expanded ldf2 for a cool $1K under new price. Create your own drum sounds or use samples and mangle it all how you like. Lots of parameters on modulation options. I didn't have anything quite like this other than mv8800, but they sound very different and both very good. Ldf2 is tiny in comparison to the mv8800 also.
Breakout boxes available for extra options. SP 1200 output box, analog filter boxes, cv/gate/patch bay, banana plug box, USB breakout for loading samples off SD.
Live sample mangling of another device running through its inputs and getting twisted up. Fx for external gear, etc.
Definite must to read the manual, but manual is full of good info. Some tutorial available in video format.

Tis composition was posted on Elektronauts. Done entirely with 2 Rytm's. Doesn't focus on the new machines, but I liked it and it shows how versatile the AR is...

BTW have been listening to some EDM banks for rytm, and it sound fabulous for trance et al. Don't know why anyone thought otherwise.
