I have released my first proper album under the name of Scanning the Planets. The album is called Surface, it is based around sci-fi themes and it features 7 tracks containing elements of ambient, drone, electronic and cinematic. I wasn’t trying to be modern or retro, but you’ll hear a bit of both throughout the album.

I’m really happy to have finally completed a project and I hope someone finds something of interest here.

Shangsean,
Thank you for the reviews! Now your music: "Clouds": feels like I'm floating in space. Because the melodies are somewhat discordant at times to me, the floating in space feels slightly unsettling, which I hope is what you were going for. Audio quality is good. I think this would be good for a space movie where things start going wrong (there have been a few of those lately). Well done. "The Search": intro is sounding like something I would conjure up, so it must be good ;) Feels like I'm traveling in space again. Perhaps we are searching for some fellow astronauts that are lost. Things are looking a bit foreboding now. I like the way the bass synth modulates, what did you use for that? Once again this sounds like space movie music. Good audio quality and Nice job again.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm happy with what the tracks said to you. It may not be exactly what was in my head, but not too far away either. The bass synth that I assume you're referring to was done using Earth EDNA from Spitfire Audio. From what I remember it was two different synth sounds and an lfo was was swinging back and forth between the two sounds. One synth was flat and the other had a some wobble added to it. EDNA is actually really good and despite it's astronomical amount of presets, it also includes all the basic sounds (probably in the thousands) that were used to make all the presets. That's where all the good stuff is imo (there are some good presets though). The interface is intuitive and makes coming up with new sounds pretty easy.

Thanks again for listening.

Thank you for replying. It sounds like a digital sample thing as opposed to analog modeling from the 2 minutes of research I did.

These sound really good, Shangsean! I listened to several of them, and I think they evolve very nicely, with an interesting selection of sounds weaving together.

Thanks very much David. I make each of my tracks as a little journey, so it's nice to hear that you think they evolve nicely.

I just played Sleep. I liked the big sound and the combination of electronic elements with orchestral sounds. I liked the dark vibes coming from this piece and the evolving structure which managed to retain an "integrated" sound/feel throughout.

Good work :)

Sleep: The sound at the start is fabulous, very mysterious and interesting. Lots of other great sounds diving in and out each hinting at something very mysterious! The almost subsonic bass is a top addition, sounds awesome in my headphones..
Well done!

Thanks for the comments. I am happy to keep hearing positive things about how the tracks evolve and of course about sound choices. I got my first sale today from somebody I neither know personally or am related to, so I am also happy about that. :D I think that makes it Platinum doesn't it? I'm hoping for Double Platinum by the time I wake up tomorrow.

I've made the album Name Your Price, which now means you have no excuse not to purchase it, unless of course, you don't like it.

Thanks to all who have purchased it already.
