it's awesome though not the perfect modular experience. you have to work in 2 different environments (the panel view and modular view as Blocks don't have patching on the panels). for workflow I use switches (from the Library) to do some patching from panel. library is great and there's new blocks added regularly (even a 4 voice splitter was added for poly sounds)
lack of multicore processing means you can realistically only run it at 44khz....some smaller ensembles I can run at 88khz and you can notice any aliasing fizz disappears...although it's not too bad at 44khz .
but yeah there's a reason why monark runs at 88khz in reaktor...that would be the ideal.
also one reason I hate the current modular view is that everything is tiny and eye straining there...no zoom available that I can see....in terms of resolutions that part has not been updated to cater for the new super high resolution screens.
edit : forgot to mention 1 thing which majorly sucks....Blocks controls don't respond to mousewheel...my hand is killing me after a couple of hours of tweaking.

I think thats a pro and con... sure you have to have 2 views BUT it also means you don't have cables obscuring your vision of the panels, and a tidy 'connection layout' is not necessarily the order you want to see on the panels. so, personally, I think I prefer it over say bazille/modular x which take the wires on panel approach.olikana wrote:it's awesome though not the perfect modular experience. you have to work in 2 different environments (the panel view and modular view as Blocks don't have patching on the panels).
Its great that when you write software, (sometimes) you break the physical metaphor because you can improve on it, as you are not confined to the same rules. real modular have there stuff on the panel, since it would be a pain if the connections were on the back.

if anyone is still wondering, as an owner of Komplete 9 ultimate, it said I qualified for the $99 update.
I think the community aspect of reaktor is the biggest selling point. I've been using Reaktor 5 for a couple years now, and I'm still finding ensembles that blow my mind in the community. just the other day I found Vitaverb, and its my go to verb now.
After looking at what everyone in the community is cooking up, Reaktor 6 looks pretty compelling. Polyphonic distributor blocks, wavetable blocks, sequencers, and all sorts of other stuff look pretty freaking dope. Imagine running a polyphonic Monark! (anyone tried that yet?) Although these things were possible in the past, its a lot less intimidating to deal with, and I think the ease of the Blocks format will empower more developers to make modules.

Cool sounds in that, kind of reminds me of Twisted Tool samples.
The GUI color on that is horrible though. I prefer the Twisted Tools GUI layouts.

I run Bazille at 140% and wires set to 'Hair' and X-Ray... even a bunch of wires do not obscure the panels. I can always read the panels settings without strain. I also always use the 'Gearporn' skin in Bazille. I don't like tabbing and having to switch panels.thetechnobear wrote:I think thats a pro and con... sure you have to have 2 views BUT it also means you don't have cables obscuring your vision of the panels, and a tidy 'connection layout' is not necessarily the order you want to see on the panels. so, personally, I think I prefer it over say bazille/modular x which take the wires on panel approach.olikana wrote:it's awesome though not the perfect modular experience. you have to work in 2 different environments (the panel view and modular view as Blocks don't have patching on the panels).

I would also rather have 1 environment in Reaktor.

Why does he claim that STEIM no longer exists? It's still here. I used to live right across the street!

This is a quick question, sorry if it's been asked but how does Reaktor 6 compare to analog synths.
I already use monark and use it in every track but i've been looking for an itb solution to having a rack of hardware synths. Btw i know Blocks is mono so i'd probably look at adding an analog polysynth. Cheers!

I would recommend spending some time with videos of Monark on YouTube. You will get all the components of that synth as individual blocks. For my taste, as soon as I saw that I would be able to drop a Monark filter on _anything_, within Reaktor or without, I knew I would be upgrading.musikmachine wrote:This is a quick question, sorry if it's been asked but how does Reaktor 6 compare to analog synths.

Re: polyphony, there are already some attempts to produce this blocks. I haven't tried them, so I can't comment on them personally. Check out the Reaktor User Library for a sense of what's out there. A lot of ensembles have audio demos available.

Thanks! Yeah i was wondering what other synths you could emulate, filter types etc. Can you nail a prophet, 303 or SH-101 bass? Or to put it another way are the other oscillators, filters etc as good as monarks?
I've heard some great demos but they're aren't an awful lot that emulate other synths afaict, much as love the moog sound i'm looking for some variation.
I just got the Live 9.5 upgrade as well with the drop filters so i'm primarily interested in the oscillators but i'm also wondering how good the blocks fx processors are.
Cheers!

Well i just purchased my upgrade, i didn't want to be patient until they had a sale. I am having a blast making my own patches with the blocks!
This is a must-have if you want to patch with some awesome blocks.
