Logic Pro Resurrection for Alchemy 2 (Logic X)

Three fresh patches in a slightly futuristic ambient sort of groove track with some soundtrack-ish sort of influence, sort of:

EDIT:

Improvising with the patch “Additive Bass Flute“, in this case the additive re-synthesis of multisampled bass flute swells and decays works really well and produces some lovely timbres:

Here comes a first patch using stick cello samples (and some violin too):

Multi-sampled tremolos played with a thin drum stick on cello and violin, 3 multi-samples in each source, 4 sources can be layered and morphed, auto-morphing via 2 LFOs is also possible.

Sampled at A1/A2 (cello) and A3 (violin) - 4 variations each, each of the 12 tremolos slightly differs in speed and dynamic range so you get a constantly changing organic granular texture.

The new granular taps in Alchemy 2 really are a game changer, with the right samples and granular settings it comes more close to the granular heaven we can achieve in HALion 5.

Programmed and played during the current lunar eclipse which is beautifully shining through one of my studio windows on a crystal clear night:

Bowed Spectrality - a patch using multi-sampled bowed crotales and vibraphone sounds, re-synthesized in spectral and additive mode (different samples in each source A-B). Layered in the background is the patch Additive Bassflute (see video above).

Multisampled water bells meet ambient pad heaven - 2 fresh patches from Resurrection:

Here comes an impro with the patch Stick Cello 5Vel RR3, 10 pitches were sampled between C1 - G3 with 5 velocity layers and 3x round robin - 150 samples.

The initial improvisation played with a pure/acoustic snapshot was copied, transposed up and then played back alternating between two of the distorted/modulated snapshots within the patch.

This was tough to sample and edit as I had to remove quite a few of these amazing resonances which occur when you hit a cello with drumsticks in order to achieve a homogeneous sound :), now it sounds like the instrument I had in mind.

Two fresh SciFi-patches (Exoplanet & SciFi Sweeps Split) are featured in this rather alien soundscape - 100% Alchemy 2:

That's capitalism. Bottom line is *EVERYTHING* - more than life. Kneel before the money. Kneel and beg, mere human parasite. :bang:

Something more quiet - two fresh patches, morphing spectrally resynthesized flute textures meet more water bells, rather delicate:

Here comes a little night vamp jammed together at 5 in the morning combining the stick cello, marching drum and a windpad-snapshot from a patch named Ice Cube:

I'd be lying if I said that I'm excited to see my favorite Alchemy patch developer creating new Alchemy patches for Apple's new bastard-creation.......but I guess a person's got to eat and pay the bills....so I'll wish Simon success.

Thank God for Omnisphere 2, because I really don't miss it near as bad as I thought I would after deleting it off my HD.

Didn't you start a thread a while ago where you announced to the world the abandonment of Alchemy 1 from your system drive? Don't you think it's time to get over it? As much as I respect your sentiments, I do wish you cool it down now.

I was very pissed off myself when CA went down and I wanted everyone to know that, then - out of the blue - version 2 appeared in the DAW I have been using all my life and the spontaneous decision to create another library for Alchemy 2 was totally un-strategic and certainly not financially motivated, as I still have no idea, how many of the large patchpool crowd are on Mac and using Logic and how many former Alchemists would be angry at me for betraying them - LOL. I would just do another Serum set or release 50 gazillion Kontakt libs if I were only doing all of this for the money, and I would certainly not choose to support instruments like HALion 5 and MachFive which are pretty unpopular around these premises although they are both fantastic hybrid instruments.

And Alchemy 2 is pretty amazing I must say after having spent many weeks with it for many, many hours each day. The new spectral re-synthesis is the best I have heard so far (if you use the right samples and prepare them in the right way), finally it produces very usable and beautiful sounds which can be layered in so many ways with samples, granular textures, FM sounds and whatnot.

Sorry for the long answer, but I needed to write this.

All sounds in this slightly spooky demo are spectrally re-synthesized, 2 fresh Alchemy patches made today - the four vocal sounds morph into each other using element morphing with separate morph speeds (via LFOs) for spectral and formant morphing, the piano scrapes and string accents are split sounds, 2 in each source, ready for Halloween - go!

So looking forwards to this, Alchemy 2 is awesome.

Thank´s Stephen, yes it is incredible what we can do now with the spectral re-synthesis, I just forgot how much work it is to create 100 patches with 8 snapshots each, and now we have even more to think about when setting up a patch - but it's all totally worth it sonically!!!
