How to make that sound...

Hey guys,
I have started doing some experiments on samples of unconventional acoustic sources. I'm committed to create my personal sound palette starting from this kind of odd sounds, and deepening my skills in sound processing as well.
In this video I create a pad-similar preset from the sample of a cigarette stub dropped in water. In the video you can find the description of the specific techniques that I have used.
Would love to have you comments and opinions.
Thank you!!

Very cool !
My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Akai VIP = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

I haven't heard this yet because I can't watch videos without interrupting my mom's NetFlix stream where I am now, but I gotta say...

Great idea for a sample! And nice results! I'm sure that fizzling sound offers a lot of useful high frequencies.

But seriously, smoking iz bayd umkay. Just buy cigarettes to make sounds... other than coughing :tu:

I tried quitting cold turkey several times and I always started up again. What finally worked is I tapered off little by little over the course of a year. I had to organize a "smoking schedule" to keep track of how many cigarettes I would smoke a day so I could cut back by one cigarette about every week or maybe two weeks. It must've worked. I haven't had a desire to smoke in six years :tu:

Sounds great! Of course, with such extreme time stretching, just about any sound would have yielded usable results. But I find the fun and the satisfaction is in the process. It makes the end product just that much more personal and special.

I hope you post more of these demo videos!

Hey, thank you for watching! I have just posted a new video, where I create an "arctic" soundscape by applying granular resynthesis to the sample of some cups of glass.
Hope you enjoy it guys, looking forward to hear your comments/opinions!
Cheers

Another experiment here guys, with the sample of a metal spring. I would love to hear you thoughts, as always :)

Hi :)

Nice sounds! But...personally, i would be more interested in the process of getting to those sounds, than watching you play them.

Keep up the good and inspiring work!
