I'm looking for a replacement for my MachineDrum and/or NordDrum in VST (Win) format.

I don't know if there is any plugin that can generate such sound without using 34225 parameters and envelopes or LFOs. I like the MachineDrum behavior: you choose a drum engine, then you tweak it with 24 easy parameters. And I love the NordDrum flexibility without going extremately complicated, only a bunch of parameters for a huge amount of drums.

I prefer artificial "techno" drums, instead classic "natural" drums.

Have a look at Drumaxx from Image-Line ...

The vst comes with a standalone version as well ... great when you just want to design some sounds or grooves. It has a built-in step sequencer and has recently been upgraded to 64bit.

Sonic charge microtonic....
It's not what you use, it's how you use it...

Yes, in fact I own Drummax. But I don't like its sounds... it sounds too "normal" ;)

I'm looking something more like this, notice how metallic is the sound:

Well ... if you want Elektron sound you probably need the hardware. I just bought an Analog Rtm (even though I already have a ton of VST drum machines). ;)

There don't seem to be many VST drum synths around. Most are sample based afaik. Maybe have a look at BONG from xoxos.

I already own both hardwares, but I'm planning selling them. That's why I'm looking for a replacement ;)

Better get sampling in that case, then pick up a good drum sampler/player ... :hihi:

The only other VST drum synth I can think of Is Tattoo from Audio Damage ... it's geared more towards X0X kinda sounds.

Thank you. I hate AD demo version policy, so judging by the audio demos it seems it sounds a little weak for the heavy techno I want, I think I'm going to keep ND after all :)

Have you tried Waldorf Attack (part of Waldorf Edition)? I haven't upgraded to v2 yet but it's very flexible and sounds good, simplish too.
I miss MindPrint. My TRIO needs a big brother.

sounds like a lot of FM-based percussion sounds. you've got the hardware there, break down some of your favorite sounds and see how they're made up on the MD and ND.

I was about to propose that too. You can get some metallic sounds of it for sure. :)

I still love Microtonic, it has its own sound.

Rob Papen Punch all the way

Great drum synth and it has a section to load samples as well.
Play it by ear

If you are looking for good drum synth, I would like to recommend you (free) Drumatic3 (or payware Drumatic4). ErsDrums is another great and underrated freebie with only few parameters, but don't be fooled with its GUI - sounds perfect. Xoxos Bong (cheap payware) is great too (synthedit plugin).
