Yes. But a different timer resolution or something else would affect all DAWs and all systems - which is not the case.EvilDragon wrote:"to the best of my knowledge", he said.4damind wrote:The Microsoft rep (Pete Brown) said they have not changed something with the multimedia timer

True that. Unless the DAW does its own timestamping or has an option to do so, and it's enabled (Reaper, for example).4damind wrote:Yes. Hello,
So it will be good to know how that user managed to install it.
If you work with video we are still recommending not to update.
Best regards,
GN
I have received a reply from the QA. In one of our test computers we have tried to install Quicktime 7.7.7 in compatibility mode and we have received the already known error message.EvilDragon wrote:Guillermo - QT 7.7.7 can be installed on W10 (in compatibility mode, I assume), users have it running in W10.

I believe you got your reply to that in the other thread. The user(s) had 7.7.7 installed previously on W8 (or W8.1) before upgrading to W10...

Hello,
Best regards,

Yes, I have seen it, so our results and knowledge base article does not need to be corrected. You cannot install Quicktime 7.7.7 in Windows 10 not even in compatibility mode. If you don't have it installed before you update your OS, you will not be able to run video inside of Cubase and Nuendo.EvilDragon wrote:I believe you got your reply to that in the other thread. So, it would be good to put that in the knowledgebase article - that one should install 7.7.7 on their old OS before they update to W10 (if they plan on updating to W10).

I'm not so much worried about compatibility to Windows 10, but when Steinberg drops compatibility to Windows 7.
Wouldn't be the first time this has happened. IIRC, last time Vista was dropped about half a year to a year after Windows 8 was released. And I do not plan to upgrade to Windows 10 any time soon. Even being free and all that.

Because with increasing complexity in a more and more technological world, people become more and more scared of what they don't understand.
But seriously, why worry about how long Windows 7 will be supported? Windows 8.1 was released in 2013, so Vista was 7 years old at that time, and the gros of people already updated to Windows 7. Btw, you could always install versions of Cubase on Windows XP which were supposedly not supported on that OS. So that's another reason to worry less.

I would be more worried about when 8/8.1 will be dropped rather than 7. Cubase 6 dropped XP support a decade after XP was released and 7 for all intents and purposes is the new XP.

I'm just worried because I don't want my (almost) glitch-free system to be screwed.chk071 wrote:Because with increasing complexity in a more and more technological world, people become more and more scared of what they don't understand.
What about the old rule: only install a new MS operating system after they give you the first service pack?

Microsoft is abandoning the concept of Service Packs with Windows 10. The model they are moving to is more frequent incremental updates, and then semi-regular feature updates:2ZrgE wrote:What about the old rule: only install a new MS operating system after they give you the first service pack?

@ Guillermo: Any info if Wavelab Elements 7 gets a patch for Windows 10 compatibility? I tried it out, and it gave me a (general) error message, and refused to work on Windows 10 64-bit (Elements is also the 64-bit version). I already send a mail to Steinberg support, but maybe you have infos regarding this?
