Sweet: this thing can sound credibly like my FatMan! :hyper:

Post

psmacmur: is that the PAiA FatMan? As in the build-it-yourself synth from 1990? I have one of those too!

Amazingly they're still selling them:

Anyway, that makes this synth sound fun but since it's Windows-only I'll be taking another mandatory month off. Not actually complaining though -- I'm making good progress on a bunch of non-OSC tracks and I don't want to take a month off from those!

Hm, let me check the OSC this year
OSC 77 Charlatan: fun, odd, check!
OSC 76 Mantra Evo: ugh. skipped that one. even, check!
OSC 75 PG-8X: no time to participate, didn't try
OSC 74 Dexed: pita. buggy. even, check!
OSC 73 Synthmaster: solid. easy. odd, check!
OSC 72 Eclipsis: buggy, cpu hog, weird. even, check!
OSC 71 Hive: a breathe of power and usability. odd, check!

You know, I think you're on to something...

Im glad this collection was revisited.

Some serious coding talent here. I would gladly buy these if they were updated to 64bit and had scalable gui. Still alot of synth power just as they are.

Not so sure...
OSC 77 Charlatan: fun, solid and easy, odd, check!
OSC 76 Mantra Evo: sure it's buggy, but had sooooo much fun!. even, check!
OSC 75 PG-8X: buggy and awkward, I had little inspiration with this one.
OSC 74 Dexed: pita. buggy. (but somehow (for me) created one of my best ever! :) ) even, check!
OSC 73 Synthmaster: solid. easy. odd, check!
OSC 72 Eclipsis: challenging but inspiring. Loved it :D , check!
OSC 71 Hive: Had no time, but an awesome synth! odd, check!

Almost fits, but - it seems i find the most awkward ones the most inspiring :ud: :?

:o conspiracy :?: :scared:

Sorry, can't agree. Didn't like Hive very much (CPU heavy use).
Synthmaster (Player) was loaded with nice sounds, but was tricky to tweak to what I wanted. Dexed was buggy first, but with tons of presets out there and there was a debugged version then.
Mantra Evo sounds really great. Sure it needs some love ;)

It's not so black and white as you described :D

Blast it all of you! You're slowly unraveling the dark OSC secrets. :smack: :smack:

I've Never tried one of these, but I should at least have a go
It's very tasty, I swear!

Post

Not complaining here really, but I was hoping for one with an OS X version.

Good luck, everyone!

Going to be very interesting with max polyphony of 2 notes. Creating chords is going to be a bit of a challenge.

Yup! Built mine in 2006. At the time, being used to ROMplers, it amazed me how one simple synth can sound so rock'n'roll, or so acid techno, or so IDM, all depending how it's played. Hence, OSC making sense! :hihi:

Welp... It crashes both softwares I own... I guess I'm out for this one :(

Oh yeah, i haven't looked at the patches, but given that each module has 2 OSCs, one should be able to create 4-note chords that trigger with one key. Or, try a midi approach the Reaper users here have talked about, which I might give a go this time: http://thepiz.org/plugins/?p=pizmidi
