Problems having SonarX3 and latest Platinum on same PC?

There's an upgrade sale on at AudioDeluxe which is tempting me to get the latest version of Platinum. The thing is, I have a fair amount of incomplete work which I've been doing in Sonar X3e; I'd hate to find that for some reason or another that when I open one of those projects in Platinum, something screws up, and I cannot go back to the safety of X3e.

So if I find that something does screw up (and please nobody say "What could go wrong?" or "Don't worry, I've never had any problems" -- let's just not go there ok? I'm asking this out of an abundance of sensible caution), can I just keep working on it in X3e, or does X3e get obliterated / messed with by the Platinum installation?

Sorry, I'd have asked this on the Cakewalk forum but I'm effectively locked out of my account there, as the process to meet the new requirement to migrate to a new login ("SSO") is not working, sending me in circles...

I already have Sonar X3e and new Platinum installed in parallel. Both work without problems for me.

Thanks man!

No problems here. I have X1, X2, X3 and Platinum...plus Harrison mixbus 2.5 and 3. Sonar is solid as a rock here.

also got platinum and x3 installed, platinum very solid here as well

Thanks everyone. May I also ask -- forgetting Platinum's bundled FX and VSTIs, as well as the Vocalign thing -- what are the top (if any) benefits which you see the latest version of Platinum over X3e? Any major stability / workflow improvements?

If you found X3 to be solid, the you'll definitely find Platinum more so. There have been hundreds of bug fixes (since X3), ironing out issues - some of which have plagued some users for a long time. Definitely a marked and steady increase in stability in a program that was already quite stable to begin with.

If you are wondering about any specific issues and if they were ever addressed, best thing to do is try the demo and see for yourself.

One other plus -- not necessarily related to stability or workflow -- is that at the end of each month, it's like Christmas day for Platinum users, as the newest update with fixes and goodies becomes available. You can always read about what's coming beforehand, but I prefer to simply be surprised... Again, like Christmas day.

Perfect example of an unexpected goodie: Today, CW released the August update for Sonar with... Windows 10 support!

Ok flugel45, as you've 46 more KVR posts than I, I'll defer to your greater wisdom, i.e. I pulled the trigger. So if something goes wrong, it's all your fault.

I have 8.5, X1, X2, X3, and Platinum all installed with no problems. If I open an older project in a newer version of SONAR, I always save it with a new name, so I don't overwrite the original. Just in case...

I have both X3 and Pro here. The only issue I've had was if you have them both open at once, the one you opened second will not pass audio, even with 'share drivers with other programs' enabled in both.

The biggest improvement I've seen for me is the mix window and all channel inserts showing up without having to scroll through them. Very good for efficiency during mixing. Also, sends all appear so no more scrolling through that either.
