Incredible? Zebra 2 sounds incredible. ACE sounds like a basic VA synth with a few fancy modulation routings. It is far from an incredible sounding synth. At least in my definition of the word "incredible."

In fact, I would use the word "incredible" to define very few synths.

ACE is certainly not one of them.

Synthmaster - $60
ACE - $85
Discovery Pro - $95
Korg Legacy Collection - $100
MUX Modular - $61
KarmaFX Modular - $72
Sonic Acadamy ANA - $80
MPowersynth - $88
Waves Element - $76
Harmor - $60
Z3ta+2 - $50
I don't think this is an accurate price comparison. These are the prices I can find today:

SynthMaster (Standard) $83
ACE €69
Discovery Pro $169/€149
KORG Legacy Collection $199.99
MUX Modular €59
KarmaFX Modular $112
Sonic Academy ANA £50
MPowersynth $167/€149
Waves Element $79 (sale) $200 (regular)
Harmor €139
z3ta+ 2 £79

That puts Carbon Electra towards the lower end of this section of the market.

As far as the synth goes, based on the demo, I agree there's nothing that screams 'must have' and if you've already got a few decent synths it's unlikely to be of much interest. But if you haven't I can see the attraction of a reasonably priced 'power' synth, maybe as a step up from the usual freeware/magware synths that a beginner might start out with.

Not to be confused with Tone2 Electra.

I'm just reporting what I paid for those synths. And if you wait for sales (which these run fairly often) you can probably get them for those prices or close to them.

Now, if Carbon Electra runs a sale and you can pick it up for a short time for $50, I'd say grab it. That's an amazing price for a synth that can do what this synth can do. But $99? Not when there is stuff out there priced less that can do more and sounds just as good if not better.

I like the looks and layout. Sounds pretty good too... Some nice features.

I'd definitely buy this, if I didn't have a ton of other soft synths.

But my interest has been peaked enough to try the demo.
I will take the Lord's name in vain, whenever I want. Hail Satan! And his little goblins too.

As this being released by PluginBoutique, I guess it would be the same devs doing Carbon Electra as did Virtual CZ ?

In case of that this new synth most def would be worth a look when it appears.

I agree. I find it hard to believe that this will better it, but we'll see :)
+1

I love the sound quality of ACE :)
