The absolute best way to learn something consists of mindless
repetition of long lists of 'facts' , sitting in a stagnant room with
about twenty five of your peers . The lessons are reinforced by
several cranky women dressed as penguins , smacking random
participants across the knuckles w/ a longish pointer thingy ...

I would say : practice.

Make as many songs as you can.

Of course you can watch tutorials such as sonicAcademy.com or (if you have time) there are plenty of free tutorials on youTube but to be honest i've never learnt anything in this way It just doesnt feel entertaining.
