I'd say they probably used some of the popular stuff from the early/mid nineties. Roland JV series, Yamaha SY series of maybe a Wavestation. Today I'd say loads of synths would be able to emulate a pad like this. I did a similar one in Synth1 a long time ago but I've since lost the files. I may recreate it some day.
If you have Omnisphere, doing a pad like this should be a walk in the park. I'm working on a few omni patches as well and might do some like this as they're very usuable.
