I don't know if it helps with the layout problems, but it certainly makes the plugins a lot more pleasing on the eye.EvilDragon wrote:Don't know if it helps much, but...

I'm typically able to dial in useful results with just about any hardware or software I encounter, but I am also confused/put-off by the Melda GUI layout -- way too many options to suss out quickly IMO. The font style/size and idiotic non-descriptive preset names don't help matters any.
I know there's a style editor (is that just for their paid plugins?); regardless, the basic visual architecture just doesn't work for me. In spite of Melda's innovative DSP and variety of multi-band plugins, I can't justify spending $$$ on these eyesores.

I would like entering values directly, without the popup, and choosing EQ shapes with a submenu for example.
Good workflow is one of the essential things IMO.

The "problem" with Melda's plugins is that Vojtech actually pretends to be a "lazy" guy and thus coded a "one for all" framework that allows him to use it for any plugin he creates.
I'm not saying that this wrong. In economic theory you - as a customer - pay less for products that rely on sharing common foundations.
But yes, the early product line was a humiliation to what one calls "aesthetics". This has changed recently (2ct).

The GUI of V9 is better but I'm dreaming of a DEFAULT GUI that is similar to the Maya Blue skin by Satyatunes. It's still not a real eye candy (there are too many bars!) but it makes the GUI much more usable.
BTW, which effects are you creating with the Ringmod, Sendy? I always found it difficult to use and experimented only with some vocal effects...

The real problem is that (unlike Satyatunes) Vojtech isn't a professional GUI designer... Urs from U-He, for example, has a team of 10 people, and amongst them there are professional GUI designers, too. But Meldaproduction seems to be a one-man-show...elassi wrote:The "problem" with Melda's plugins is that Vojtech actually pretends to be a "lazy" guy and thus coded a "one for all" framework that allows him to use it for any plugin he creates.

I think it sounds great on anything, particularly synths. Where whole-band ringmod fails by being too full-on, multiband ringmod has a subtlety that can grant parts a sort of fluttering, worn-down, otherworldly, BOC-ish sound.Tricky-Loops wrote:The GUI of V9 is better but I'm dreaming of a DEFAULT GUI that is similar to the Maya Blue skin by Satyatunes. I'm also really interested in an effect called "harmonic tremolo" where the signal is divided into two or more bands via crossover filters, and then tremolo is applied to one band, and out-of-phase tremolo to the other. Since MMultibandringmod has so many possibilities, this is surely a possible effect to create with it. It's just getting to grips with it that's the problem
Here's multiband tremolo on guitar:
