Hello. I was just wondering does any one know of any good underwater/aquatic sample libraries for Kontakt (though preferably free don't want to spend any more money on sounds at the moment)

like this one http://www.citron-instruments.com/aqua.php

Also any vst that just deals with underwater type sounds would be good to know of to.

And another thing I was wondering does anyone know if the samples from the Herbertos Oceanic Odyssey
are legal or not? i'm guessing not since I mostly find it on pirating sites, but not sure since I cant find where it even came from.

Or even if any of the Herbertos libraries are legal for the mater.

Are you looking for synth sounds, or sounds of splashing or underwater ambience?
A simple solution for ambience is to fill up a bucket with water, blow bubbles into it with a hose, and record the result. Get several takes that you can loop. Pitch them down, pan them around, and add some reverb.

Post

Id say I'm looking for either. And I don't really have a good setup for recording at the moment (nor do I really know much about recording to begin with) so id say doing it myself is out of the question at the moment

I did already find a good reverb effect (Boscomac's Floodverb) for making instruments sound like they are underwater, but it would be nice to have some other sounds both ambience and instruments that fit a underwater scene

Though maybe Boscomacs Floodverb is all I need?

OK, I think you may be pulling my leg here, as if the names of the two products you mention indicate that they are for creating water sounds? I stand by my method above, though, if anyone is really interested in creating an underwater effect. I have done this, and it has worked well for me on several projects.

So correct me if I'm saying something wrong or missing something here. but no I don't think the first product I mentioned is for creating water sounds, but for making instruments and ambience that fit well in underwater themed music.

And the other effect Floodverb will just make instruments feel like they are underwater, which I know wont replace recorded water sounds but I'm guessing is all I need to make any instrument feel like its underwater and maybe make water ambience through pads with it.

And I just simply mentioned them for examples of what I'm kinda looking for more of.

But just to say also I am looking for any good water sounds to, which I understand recording myself would probably be the best way but I got a shoddy audio interface to record with at the moment, and I cant really record through anything else.

Sorry, I misunderstood. Send me a PM, and I might be able to help with the ambience.

In fact SonicCouture Geosonic has a folder 'Water and Ice' which has underwater recordings as the basis for some water patches.

+1
I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil

Yea I actually already had my eyes on that sample library :). Though if I got it, it would be latter since I would prefer not to spend any money at the moment.

It's not like any library, it's truly special. The power it provides to sculpt this material is unheard-of.

Post

While not truly special, here's a little Kontakt wave thang (you knew I'd stick my proboscis in here didn't you?)

@bigcat: Thanks :D ill keep that around just In case.

So I tried hunting for more aquatic sounds and what I found is the FreeFieldRecordings has some pretty good aquatic sounds (although not a lot)

And I think I figured out where in the world those Herbertos/Herbsonics/Voyager? sounds came from... vstclub.
Which the site seems sketchy, but seems like he made the libraries himself from what I've read.

So I think ill be using those librarys which will fill most of my aquatic needs.

One last thing I wanted to ask though does anyone know where I could get these sounds.

I'm guessing something like the JV-1080 or is it the JV-1080?, but from what I've also read the sounds might have been made by Minoru Akao though I might be misunderstanding.
